For ten years now, an excellent musical event has been taking place in the city of Kavala by Kavala Music School, with Title "Toothless and Singing in the Heart".
Every May, the city fills with music, voices, students, teachers and choirs, as the event is attended by Music Schools from all over GreeceThe events spread throughout the city, creating a special cultural atmosphere, culminating with two major concerts at the imposing Ancient Theater of Philippi.
This year's event was dedicated to Constantinople, in the City of memory, history, tradition and heart.
The Saturday May 9, the concert entitled "In the City of Light".
The orchestra was taught and conducted by Christos Tsiamoulis, while the choir was taught and directed by Sofia Neochoritou.
On Sunday:, followed by the concert "Lord of Hosts", a special tribute to the great composer Stamatis Spanoudakis.
A special place in this year's event was held by Sofia Neochoritou, teacher of the choir in which I also participate. In addition to the choirs she teaches in our area, Ms. Neochoritou also teaches in the choir "LAURELS" Metropolis of Derka in Istanbul, where he travels every month, keeping the music and spiritual connection with the City alive.
At the Saturday concert, "In the City of Light", the choir also participated "LAURELS"One of the most moving moments of the evening was when they performed the song "City of the heart", with lyrics I wrote over her music Evanthias Reboutsika, from the favorite movie "Civil Cuisine".
It was a moment of deep emotion and honor. A moment where music united Kavala with Istanbul, the present with memory, the voice with the soul.
The event "Toothless and Singing in the Heart" proves once again that culture, when served with love, knowledge and respect, can become a bridge of memory, education and Greek continuity.
It was a great joy and honor for me, in the one city that I live and love, in the ancient theater of Philippi, to hear the song about the other, the City of the Heart, by members of the choir that came from the City and with them the choir of the Music Schools of our country, as well as the entire theater world, sang it.
