I would first like to express my warmest thanks for this honorary invitation. My presence here today, at the emblematic Melina Cultural Center – next to the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis, where ancient wisdom meets the modern spirit – is a profound emotion and an unspeakable joy for me.
The Global Vision Summit III 2026 bears a title that is not accidental. Global Vision. Not a distant, utopian vision, but a vision that is being built here and now, through dialogue, culture, literature, education and universal human values, in a time when our planet is calling out to us louder than ever.

What will be the agreement with Gaia?
We stand here today, at a critical juncture in history. All around us, nature sends messages that we can no longer ignore: the fires that threaten our forests, the droughts that ravage our plains, the waters that are polluted and the air that is heavy. Our mother Gaia no longer cries out – groans.
Today, environmental problems are more urgent and critical than ever. And they are due, we now know, to ourselves. There are six major plagues:
First, Climate Change – the man-made phenomenon that raises the planet's temperature and destabilizes every balance.
Second, Pollution – especially the contamination of water resources by toxic heavy metals, pesticides and chemical fertilizers, which constitutes the greatest health risk to humans and the animal kingdom.
Thirdly, Deforestation – which deprives us of oxygen, increases carbon dioxide, threatens animals and strips us of our natural shelter, even in times of war.
Fourth, the Water Scarcity – an ironic tragedy, as only 3% of water resources are drinkable, while 1,1 billion people lack clean water, with Artificial Intelligence already consuming huge quantities of it.
Fifth, Biodiversity Loss – the violent intervention of humans in wildlife habitats, which, together with climate change, has reduced biodiversity by 27% in just 35 years.
Sixth, Soil Erosion and Degradation – where unsustainable agricultural practices have already eliminated 50% of the planet's topsoil in the last 150 years, bringing desertification, flooding and pollution of aquifers.
Faced with this dark landscape, our response cannot be technocratic and piecemeal. It is not enough to plant trees or put filters on chimneys. We need a radical strategy – in the sense that it grasps the roots of evil:
Solutions:
Regenerative Agriculture instead of chemical, which nourishes the soil instead of depleting it.
Agroforestry that connects trees with crops, holding water and carbon.
Circular Economy which produces no waste, but converts every by-product into a nutrient.
Local Self-Sufficiency in food and energy, to reduce transportation and overexploitation.
Solar Energy and Wave Energy instead of Wind Energy which is destructive to the environment.
And, above all, a change the progress indicator: not to measure our success by GDP, but by the health of the soil, the purity of the waters, the prosperity of the communities and the happiness of all creatures.
However, all this technical strategy will remain an empty letter if it is not accompanied by what gives meaning to every human action: our culture, education, art and values.
Because Gaia is not just a "resource" to manage. It is our home, our past, our future. And that's why:
The Dialogue It offers us the opportunity to reach out across borders and interests, to hear the voices of the weak and to build consensus. Without dialogue, solutions are imposed; with dialogue, they are embraced.
The Culture It keeps alive the ancient wisdoms – of the indigenous people, the farmers, the ancestors – who knew how to respect the water cycle, the harvest season, the sacredness of the forest. It reminds us that nature is not conquered; it is honored.
Literature It works the miracle of empathy. Where numbers freeze the heart, a poem or a story melts it. It puts us in the shoes of the persecuted animal, the river that dries up, the thirsty child. And then protecting the environment becomes a personal matter of love.
Education is the cornerstone. We do not protect what we ignore. But education is not simply the transmission of knowledge; it is the cultivation of critical thinking, creative imagination, ecological awareness. By educating our children in sustainability and citizenship, we plant seeds for seven generations to come.
Universal Human Values – justice, solidarity, respect, responsibility, humility – constitute the moral barometer. They remind us that the climate crisis hits the poorest first, so protecting the environment is at the same time a social struggle. That water and air belong to everyone, so pollution is an individual and collective crime. That biodiversity is not a luxury but our duty to life.
Epilogue
Dear participants,
Gaia is not saved by laws, technology and funding alone. It is saved by poetry. It is saved by discussions in schoolrooms, by an attitude of respect for our neighbor, by a gesture of humility before the mystery of a flower. It is saved when the researcher and the poet sit at the same table. When economics bows to ethics. When politics is inspired by art.
Let our gathering today be the starting point of a cultural revolution – calm, deep, human. A revolution where our every action will be simultaneously science and emotion, individual choice and collective commitment, roots in the soil and wings in the spirit.
Because Mother Gaia is not just a planet we must preserve. She is the source of every story we tell, every song we sing, every hug we hold. And she deserves not only our survival – but our hymn us.
So let's move forward together. With knowledge, with courage, with love. For ourselves, for our children, for all the creatures that share with us this rare, blue, precious home in the universe.

Mother Gaia, you who nourish gods and men,
you who give to all, who bring all to fruition,
and when the time comes, you take them back –
Stand by us today.
Beautiful daughter, seat of the world,
unshakable base that holds the stars,
that swirl around you in an eternal vortex,
Hear our prayer.
Deep, blissful, adorned with flowers,
who rejoices with the breath of grass,
who rejoices in the rain and the sun,
Your face is the spring that always returns.
But we, your children, have wounded your bowels,
We threw poison into your waters,
We cut down the forests, your lungs,

Forgive us, Gaia,

the wisdom to love you again.
