Mr. George Roussis is an internationally renowned and successful sculptor. Having studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts and on scholarship, he has created many external sculptural works in Greece, such as busts, statues and monuments, modern and classical, in brass and marble, putting his signature in very important private and municipal collections. He has been awarded by the Bank of Greece for the design of the "EURO" series coin and received the gold prize for the Lion of Piraeus (Porto Leone).
His greatest distinction is his contribution to the ambassadors who participated as keynote speakers at the International Forum of the American University Webster Athens (France, United Arab Emirates, Armenia, Israel, Philippines, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Georgia) by crafting a handmade replica of an ancient coin with the bust of Alexander the Great, receiving special honor and international recognition, after his address by the chargé d'affaires and accredited representative of the embassies, Mr. Kyriakos Maridakis.
His works are placed in public spaces mainly in Athens and Piraeus, while they are also exhibited in various private collections throughout Greece and abroad. He is a regular member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and the Association of Greek Sculptors. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Piraeus Society of Letters and Arts, a member of the Board of Directors of UNESCO Greece, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Copyright Society (OSDEETE). Since the late 1980s, he has taken part in many group exhibitions, while he has organized numerous solo exhibitions. Among his works stand out: bust of Alexander Ypsilantis at Filiki Eterias Square in Kolonaki (2014), the Monument to the Unknown Sailor in Piraeus (2019) and the statue of Constantine Palaiologos at the Holy Trinity Church of Piraeus (2020).
