With evidence coming to light every day regarding the reasons that led to the accident in the Tempi Valley, which cost the lives of 57 people, as well as the reasons that caused the fire after the accident, we have reached the 28η February 2025.
Two years after the tragic event of 2023, the cities of Greece created a shocking image, for the first time since the change of government.
Greek citizens received the call of the Tempi 2023 Victims' Relatives Association, but at the same time they listened to the need to bring justice to a tragic event for which a protest is being promoted, and flocked from the early morning hours to the central squares of the cities, walking for kilometers on foot, since the roads were closed to cars.
People in wheelchairs, young people, children and the elderly. And while the state channels talk about a few hundred people, in reality - in the city of Athens alone - the number of people was at least 1 million. But in Thessaloniki too, the unprecedented sea of people left a strong impression.
Cities in the mainland and the islands of Greece were filled with people, in a magnificent strike mobilization, in rallies that have no precedent. It is the first time that so many different sectors of professionals and businessmen have united in a general strike, with the slogan "I Have No Oxygen". Small and large businesses, shops, stores, ports, airports, taxis, public transportation, restaurants, theaters, cinemas, and of course the GSEE and ADEDY, participated in the strike.
The cities of Greece were flooded with citizens, but what was even more shocking was that Greeks outside Greece were also present. Wherever there is Hellenism, the direct message for justice was given. From the snowy fields of Iceland, to the sailors of Cape Town, Melbourne, Seoul, cities in America, France, Ljubljana, Cyprus…
The well-known songs
The central rally in Athens, centered on Syntagma Square, ended with the well-known actions of “unknowns” who broke marbles in front of the central hotels in the area and created the well-known incidents that “upset the riot police”… Naturally, the incidents continued with the well-known scenario of “Molotov cocktails-tear gas-dispersal of the crowd”, of a crowd that had declared from the beginning that it was there peacefully. The riots extended to the Temple of Olympian Zeus on one side, and to Omonia on the other, and of course there were up to 41 arrests.
Around 29 people with injuries and respiratory problems were taken to the hospitals on duty, while another 29 citizens had to be transported either by their own means or by ambulance.
We also saw similar incidents in Thessaloniki by the "unknown hooded men" who had taken on the role of breaking up the march and causing chaos.
Nevertheless, until approximately 15.30:18.00 p.m., a number of demonstrators were still in the area, while at this moment (XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.) people seem to be gathering again towards Syntagma Square, which means that there is interest and alertness about what will happen next.
