Special operational actions to prevent crime throughout the territory

Targeted police actions were carried out throughout the territory from 24 to 31 July 2023, as part of the implementation of the Strategic Planning of the Hellenic Police Headquarters to deal with crime and improve the level of security for citizens.

In this context, units were activated with the participation of visible and invisible police officers, from various Services, taking into account the local operational plans and placing particular emphasis on areas and settlements where increased incidents of delinquency are observed.

During the above actions across the country were checked –103.727- vehicles and -136.953- people while they were carried out:

  • -1.733-arrests for various offenses and for violations of the Criminal Code,
  • -5.223-introductions,
  • -25.697-violations of the Code of Civil Procedure,
  • 9-seizures and -711 - vehicle immobilizations as well as  
  • -9- violations of anti-smoking legislation.

In more detail, on the three-day period 28-31 July 2023, police actions were carried out in areas in the historical center of Athens, specifically in Omonia, Monastiraki and Patisia, with the participation of pedestrian and mounted patrols, where -296- person controls, were brought -76- people while they were arrested -25- people for various offences.

Also, the special operational actions continued in areas of Western Attica, which focused on the municipality of Acharnon and specifically on Auliza where they were -240- people, were brought –170- people, was arrested -1- while they were confirmed -27- violations of the Code of Civil Procedure

 

At the same time, in Northern Greece, targeted police actions took place in Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Epirus and Thessaly, in accordance with the existing strategic planning of the General Regional Police Directorates, giving particular emphasis to areas with increased incidents of crime.

 

In this context, on Wednesday 26 July 2023 in areas of Central Macedonia, namely in Imathia, Kilkis and Halkidiki:

 

  • were checked -133-  individuals and -82- vehicles,
  • they were taken care of -24- people,
  • were arrested -2- persons for theft and violation of the Code of Criminal Procedure,
  • were confirmed -14- violations of the Criminal Code, while
  • were immobilized -3- vehicles.

 

Also, in areas of Epirus, specifically in Ioannina, Arta, Igoumenitsa, Paramythia and Filiates:

 

  • checked –940– individuals and –756- vehicles,
  • were brought –38– people while
  • were arrested –10– individuals, –2- for convictions, –2– for drugs, –1- for weapons, –4– about foreigners and -1- for domestic violence and
  • confirmed –205– violations of the Code of Civil Procedure

 

Furthermore, in a police operation that took place on Monday, July 24, 2023 in Drosero, Xanthi, they were checked -66- individuals and -30- vehicles, were brought -7- persons while, were assured -3- violations of the C.O.K. and -2- outside K.O.K.

 

Similar actions took place in areas of Larissa, Magnesia, Trikala and Karditsa (from 30-07-2023 relevant bulletin).

 

Targeted police actions, aimed at preventing and suppressing crime and improving the level of security for citizens, will continue.
