Update on the train accident at the entrance to the Tempe valley held on March 3, 2023 at 15:30 p.m., the Spokesperson of the Hellenic Police, Police Officer II Constantia Dimoglidou.
Here is the text of the update:
"The process of identifying bodies with the method DNA: continues intensively by the special forensic laboratories of the Hellenic Police.
So far from the samples DNA: received by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, 52 dead have been identified.
14 families of victims have already been informed by the head of the identification team of the Greek Police and the specialist psychologists.
It is clarified that everything humanly possible is being done to quickly complete the overall identification of each body, through the examination of all samples taken, and then release it to the next of kin, as some bodies are in very poor condition.
Also, at the Tempo Police Department, personal belongings of passengers have been gathered, which were collected in the previous days by the Greek Police from the scene of the accident. To receive them, the passengers and relatives of the victims can visit the Tempe Police Department and contact 24950 – 93510 and 14.
