Today's World Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is a day of remembrance for the thousands of victims and their loved ones who have had such a traumatic experience in their lives.
At the same time, it is a day in the struggle of all of us to wake up and raise awareness against this unacceptable social phenomenon.
The facts that see the light of day each year leave no room for complacency in any of us.
According to them, 1 in 3 women has experienced some kind of abuse during her lifetime. Respectively, only 1 in 10 women victims turn to the police for help. Especially at a time when a society is experiencing a health, economic or other crisis, these findings tend to take on even more alarming proportions.
Despite the great progress that has been made by the world community in the direction of defending Human Rights, the persistent presence of this tragic social phenomenon today can only be interpreted in one way:
Significant steps have been taken in the fight against violence against women, however, there is still much to be done to drastically reduce this scourge - as it is rightly characterized - of our time.
Today finds us all armed with courage, strength, determination to make the greatest contribution to the great collective effort of the State and Society that is already taking place.
An effort based on cross-sectoral actions of a broader victim-centered strategy that aims to create the necessary environment of protection and confidentiality so that more and more women victims of violence find the courage to trust the State and Society and seek support and support. support for all of us.
We are all joining hands today in solidarity and humanity, stepping up our efforts in the areas of policing, justice, health and social support to combat violence against women.
Today we all unite our voices, so that soon this phenomenon ceases to be a black page of our modern society.
