The results of the EU elections in the European Union have caused a noise of turmoil and concern that is reverberating beyond the borders of individual countries. In a period where the politics of unrest and insecurity are the norm, the European elections were not just an expression of political preference, but a powerful blow to the traditional political landscape.
In France, early election estimates put Le Pen's faction at 32%, while Macron's party captured just 15,2%. This ratio immediately raised the issue of representation in the country, with Emmanuel Macron announcing the dissolution of the National Assembly and calling early elections for June 30. In Greece, the government fell below 28%, marking a significant drop compared to the previous European elections in 2019. There, Velopoulos' Hellenic Solution emerged as the fourth force with 9,45%, surpassing even the KKE.
These results revealed the inability of traditional parties to appeal to an electoral base looking for new solutions and arrangements. It is a resounding wake-up call for the European political scene and a lesson for governments seeking the continued support of citizens. It may be the beginning of a new era in European political formation.
