They are festive days, days of love, generosity and giving. I confess I also wanted to write something pleasant. Something that will give hope to us and our children... for our children.
But the news about the rape of a child by fifteen-year-old peers fell like a bombshell, and gave me a slap in the face that I will remember for a long time. My two big boys came to mind. Adults now, that their adolescence passed and did not touch, as they say. No tantrums, no shame, no delinquent behaviors. Sensitive children, with love and a titanic feeling of giving to their fellow man.
I remember my eldest son, when a friend of his age of fifteen, was admitted to the hospital, losing her hair to leukemia among other things. He went into a hair salon and parted with all his things before going to see her. "It's the least I can do, Mom, to let her know she's not alone," she had told me with tears in her eyes. And he wiped away the tears, dried his eyes and formed a gigantic smile to offer it to her. Because that's how titanic our children must be in emotion. That's how they're made.
From then on, it is up to us whether this greatness of solidarity, understanding, humanity will be preserved or if it will be lost along the way by tons of overexposure in the media, to the wrong standards of the time we live in, to the wrong - many times, unfortunately , and nonexistent- parent manipulations. A child, when it reaches the point of raping another child with a broomstick, ceases to be called a child. He has also been forced into the cruel world of dangerous adults.
A world that will never be able to get out. And our society must punish it exemplary, no matter how harsh this may sound to some. Impunity breeds indecency. Punishment with the… glove never works. And there will simply continue to be victims-children who will be stigmatized for life, who will carry pain, terror and will look at the whole world with half an eye doubting... Is this really what we want for the children of the world? I put my own children in the place of this child.
I can't even think about it, or even think about it, that chastity is punished because some children grow up sensitive, calm, demented, innocent. Toughen up, your children say, because they will see a lot of horrors and not be able to handle them. Are they bored? Show them how to get bored too. We have forgotten the laws, which the truth is, they are not implemented as they should be. X

But there are days when some children will not have the luck of ours who will smile innocently, who will have a good time as a family, carefree...
