I attended the excellent and quality evening with remarkable speakers who took us on a historical journey to the era of "Knights and swords". Congratulations to all the speakers as well as to the President of the Ambassador club of Athens, Mr. Kostas Misialis.
On Friday, June 16, 2023, the conference organized by the Ambassador Club Athens entitled "Knightly Evening" was held with great success at the Athenaeum Grand Hotel. The speakers really enthralled the guests with very interesting information about the Knightly Spirit.
The first speaker of the evening was scheduled to be Dr. Ioannis Vlazakis, Visual artist specializing in the field of heraldic art - ecosymology and the illustration of manuscripts from the western medieval tradition, who was absent due to illness. His speech and the wonderful images from his presentation were taken over by Mrs. Despina Hatzinikolaou, special secretary to the Board of Directors. of the Ambassador Club Athens. Through this presentation we traveled to the exciting world of the symbolic art of coats of arms and eco-signs.
With the second speaker Christy Emilio Ioannidou, author and researcher of Naval History, we learned about a largely unknown aspect of the history of the Knights of St. John, about the special navy they had and their actions at sea.
Closing with the third speaker, Georgios Zacharopoulos, Instructor of Historical European Martial Arts, we got to know briefly the evolution of the sword both in its morphology and in its use and learning from the 14th century until the 19th century when it started to become exclusively a sport. Mainly we saw and touched up close swords from the collection of Mr. Zacharopoulos.
