Among 56 countries, Greece took 2nd place. But at the airport, silence.
The Greek Tae Kwon Do team made history.
In an international championship with the participation of 56 countries, our athletes achieved second place in the world, raising the Greek flag where it belongs: high.
But their return to their homeland was a silent shame.
No reception, no cameras, no officials.
Only a few parents, friends and coaches hugged them with tears in their eyes.
Those who fight without lights, without sponsors, without fanfare
Many of these athletes train with personal sacrifices, without government support, without benefits, without the comforts that their other competitors have.
And yet, they climb the podium.
Not because anyone forces it on them, but because they deeply love Greece and the sport.
And yet, upon their return, the state did not have a single handshake, not even a "thank you".
There is a voice for everything – except the voice of Greece
For every trivial issue, social media is filled with noise and controversy.
No one talks about the Greek athletes who raise our flag among dozens of nations.
Not even those who declare themselves "patriots" in words.
Greece, however, is not seen in statements, it is seen in actions.
And our absence from the airport was an act of forgetfulness.
Second place among 56 countries is no small feat.
It is a triumph of soul and discipline.
And yet, the state's silence was deafening.
If we don't learn to welcome our heroes,
if we don't show respect to those who honor us,
then we have no right to complain when young people leave to find value elsewhere.
Greece doesn't just need words — it needs recognition, action, and pride.
