Historic moment for Greek-Armenian relations – The first Office of the Diaspora Commissioner of the Republic of Armenia worldwide was inaugurated in Greece.
A particularly important moment for Greece and its relations with the Republic of Armenia was marked by the official inauguration of first Office of the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia in the world, which was founded in Athens, confirming our country's strategic role in strengthening ties with the Armenian diaspora.
With special honor, the Internationalist, Political Scientist and Ambassador of the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy, Kyriakos Maridakis, participated in this historic event, following a personal invitation from the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia in Greece, Mr. Mishak Hovsepian, a close friend and collaborator.
The ceremony was honored with the presence of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and Government Official, Mr. Zareh Sinanian, who made an official working visit to Athens for the inauguration of the new institution.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Mishak Hovsepian described the establishment of the Office as the beginning of a new era for Greek-Armenian relations, aiming to strengthen cooperation between the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian diaspora and the Greek-Armenian Community. At the same time, in a particularly honorable moment, he formally proposed to Kyriakos Maridakis to participate as honorary member of the Diaspora Committee, recognizing his long-standing international contribution to cultural diplomacy and the development of cooperative relations between peoples.
The blessing ceremony of the new offices followed, in the presence of His Eminence Bishop Khoren Arakelian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Greece, His Eminence Bishop Sahak Yemisian, Primate of the Armenian Proletariat of Greece, as well as His Eminence Archbishop Yeznik Petrosian.
In his speech, High Commissioner Mr. Zarech Sinanian emphasized that the new Office will be a point of reference for serving the Armenian community in Greece, strengthening the Diaspora's ties with the motherland and further developing cooperation with the Greek-Armenian Community. At the same time, he expressed his warm thanks to the Greek Government and the Local Government for their long-standing support to Armenian Hellenism.
The event was honored with the presence of members of the Greek Parliament, representatives of the Government, Local Government, diplomatic missions, as well as representatives of academic, business, cultural and social life.
After the event concluded, Kyriakos Maridakis stated:
"The establishment of the first Office of the Diaspora Commissioner of the Republic of Armenia in the world is a historic initiative with strong symbolism. The choice of Greece, together with the first Commissioner, Mr. Mishak Hovsepian with enormous social work, "It highlights the high level of trust and strategic cooperation between the two countries. My presence at the event was a special honor and confirmed the importance of cultural diplomacy, diaspora and international cooperation as foundations for building a common future of peace, friendship and progress between the two historic peoples."
