The ceremony held at the invitation of the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Konstantinou Tasoula, but the room was packed and the atmosphere was emotional.
The President of the Hellenic Parliament Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas invited the citizens to the unveiling of the work of A. Tassos and the reason was very specific: Outside the Senate hall, now stands the famous engraving of the great artist, depicting Spyros Moustakles in a symbolic pose.
The engraving was donated to the Hellenic Parliament by Christina Moustakli, widow of Spyros Moustakli, and their daughter Natalia Moustakli.
After the unveiling of the project, the president of the Parliament said, among other things:
"Spyros Moustakles, who from now on will be housed here in the Hellenic Parliament, looks at us with sweetness, with his open eyes, with the halo of trial, with the weapon of the soldier, with the weapon of the National Army, but of the democratic polity. The soldier of the constitutional obligation, of the overthrown Constitution of 1952 by the dictatorship, which in its very last article said that "the observance of this constitution is dedicated to the patriotism of the Greeks". And that Moustakles both accepted and appreciated and paid this dedication. From whom? Of those who have made a show of patriotism, this continues even today. Not just by those who appropriated patriotism, this continues today. Not just by those who monopolized patriotism, this continues today. But from those who made patriotism revenge for those who, in their opinion, did not meet the standards. So, ostentatious, appropriating, monopolizing and much more punitive and vengeful patriotism is not patriotism, it is barbarism. And this brutality Moustaklis tasted for 47 days in the detention centers of the ETA-ESA. And he didn't just taste it, but it also had a very serious effect on his health, he had an effect of aphasia, an effect of an almost complete inability to speak. Inability to speak? But today he speaks to us, today he speaks to us kindly and exhorts us, this work of the famous Tassos, exhorts us this dedication that the Constitution makes to our own patriotism, for its protection, never to forget this blessed and I hope not unbearable dedication."
In her brief greeting, Natalia Moustakli mentioned that this work by A. Tassos passed to the Moustaklis family from the wife of A. Tassos, artist Loukia Maggiorou.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by, among others, Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, former President of the Republic - Olga Gerovasilis, 4th Vice-President of Parliament and Secretary of the SYRIZA Party - Nikos Androulakis, President of PASOK - Ioannis Plakiotakis, Athanasios Bouras, Vice-Presidents of Parliament - Nikos Papathanasis, former Minister of National Economy and Finance, Sofia Vultepsi, Assistant of Immigration and Asylum - Apostolos Kaklamanis, ex-Speaker of the Parliament, a large number of MPs, as well as General Dimitrios Houpis, head of GETHA - Vasilios Bayiokos G.G. Parliament - Stavros Augustidis, Ambassador of Cyprus to Greece - Representative of the embassy of South Korea, etc.
In fact, this fact comes to be combined with yet another piece of news, this time coming from Crete: Students of the 43rd Primary School of Heraklion, created a Spiros Moustakles Museum themselves, enhancing it with publications, photographs, books of relevant historical content and of course the book by Christina Moustaklis.
