Penny Kalakou

Penny N. Kalakou is a Public Administration graduate and a Primary Education teacher with many years of experience. She has served as deputy principal of a public school unit and is a PhD holder in the Department of Primary Education Pedagogy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She continues her research activity as a postdoctoral researcher on Greek-language education in the diaspora and has extensive scientific and educational activity within and outside the Greek borders. Her research and teaching work focuses on educational innovation, intercultural education, experiential learning and extroversion in public education. She has represented Greece in European and international programs, while in 2024, her pedagogical team was honored with a Bronze distinction at the 9th Education Leaders Awards for the innovative program “Student Canteen: children's entrepreneurship, connection with the labor market and society”, while in 2025 she received the Gold award in the “International Collaborations” category for the innovative educational program “Two Worlds, One Language”, in collaboration with the Greek School of St. Nektarios of Boston. She has presented research papers at numerous pan-Hellenic and international conferences, on topics related to multiculturalism, language teaching in the diaspora and modern, innovative pedagogical practices. Her writing includes the monographs “Strategic Analysis of Primary Education in Germany: Best Practices, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Excellence” (2023) and “School Bullying, Multiculturalism and Diversity: A Case Study of a Purely ESD Munich” (2024). She writes articles in scientific journals of pedagogical interest and is fluent in three languages.
