Instructions for use, let it be unnecessary…
Let's look at this article with humor, as a great source of information, and hope that it will remain forever "the useless information of the day". The nuclear weapons it is not an event that if they explode, then we can go on with our lives as if nothing had happened… And the first issue, of course, will be how we survive…
Initially we take it for granted that you will have found a place to hide, which should be as underground and closed as possible. You will need to stay there for at least 72 hours from the time of the nuclear attack. It is good to be closed there and not try to leave. It will be very likely that you will get stuck in the car queues of people who have thought the same thing, and it is not the wisest move right now, to be found by the explosion of nuclear weapons in the traffic.
In the "refuge your"…
Reinforce the walls with soil, or whatever you find.
Bright light from an explosion of a nuclear weapon can be seen tens of kilometers away from zero. If you are close to an explosion your chances of survival are virtually non-existent unless you are in a shelter that provides very good explosion protection. If you are a few miles away, you will have about 10-15 seconds until the heat wave hits you and maybe 20-30 seconds until the shock wave. Under no circumstances should you look directly at the glow. On a clear day, this can cause temporary blindness over very long distances. However, the actual damage radius is highly variable depending on the size of the bomb, the height of the explosion, and even the weather conditions at the time of the explosion.
If there is no shelter, dig as fast as possible. Even about 8 km away from the explosion, there is a chance that you will suffer third degree heat burns. At 32 kilometers the heat can burn your skin. The wind will reach 960 kilometers per hour and will flatten anything or anyone.
If you do not have the above options, go indoors, and hope the building does not suffer significant damage from explosion and heat.
Lie on your stomach on the floor for the first few hours…
The preparation
- The list. If (outside and far away) a nuclear weapons attack occurs, no one should be allowed on the road. For better or worse, there should be enough supplies for at least 72 hours. So, the list should include medicines, food, water and communication methods (mobile phones are not sure to work).
- Non-perishable foods, which will last a long time, are best, although they should be such that they do not require cooking (electricity, it is not certain that there will be). Canned goods, cereals, honey, sugar, nuts, rusks, milk powder, dried fruits and vegetables…
- There should be enough water in plastic containers. For the extra water you will need to use an iodine pill (potassium iodide) to clean it, because the water will probably be contaminated. This tip is probably the most important.
- An old-fashioned radio (take care of batteries), a whistle and - in case the mobile phone works - should be chosen as the means of communication, then you should have provided that the battery of your mobile phone is full.
- The medicines you should get should be the basics of a pharmacy and of course the medicines you take, if you take them, for some specific reasons.
- You will probably need tools such as a flashlight, batteries, protective masks, plastic bags, wipes, wrench, pliers, duct tape… If there is a gas leak or a broken water pipe, the wrench or pliers will be needed…
- Clock… When you decide to leave your shelter to get out on the road at least 72 hours must have passed since the explosion…
- Body protection equipment: mask, overalls… you need to be as covered as possible… And be careful, remember that food and water will be contaminated…
Let them be unnecessary, and let them be a narrative that will be forgotten, like a bad dream…
