Ukrainian president warns of "loss of dignity or loss of key partner" – Hard pressure from Washington
In one of the most critical moments for Ukraine since the start of the war, Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed a new address to the Ukrainian people, shortly after the revelations about the infamous "Trump's 28-point plan", which is allegedly the main axis of the American proposal to end the war with Russia.
The Ukrainian president stressed that his country risks losing traditional US support if it rejects Washington's demands.
"Ukraine may have to make a very difficult decision:
the loss of dignity or the risk of losing a key partner," he noted.
In his address, Zelenskyy referred to the criticality of the circumstances, saying that the country is facing a period where choices are "always difficult and never painless."
🔹 Commitment to cooperation with the US – Red lines for the national interest
Despite tough American pressure, Zelenskyy said his government would work directly and constructively with Washington on a peace framework, but with clear conditions:
"I will present arguments, persuade and propose alternatives,
but we will not betray the national interest of Ukraine.
"We will not allow the enemy to say that we do not want peace."
The Ukrainian president also referred to the specter of an "extremely difficult winter" if the country rejects the 28-point package.
"The country is called upon to choose: either the difficult 28 points,
"or an extremely difficult winter and further dangers," he stressed.
🔹 Growing political pressure – Intense background scenario
Zelensky called on Ukrainians to remain united, warning that the coming week is expected to bring even greater political tension and pressure from abroad.
At the same time, international agencies report that the US is preparing unprecedented pressure on Kiev, in order for the Ukrainian leadership to accept all points of the peace plan.
According to an Axios report, Zelensky had a telephone conversation with US Vice President JD Vance on Friday, regarding the proposed American plan.
A source from the Ukrainian presidency confirmed that:
"The telephone conversation ended half an hour ago."
The closeness of the conversation to the emergency proclamation raises questions about the degree of pressure exerted by the American side.
🔹 Climate of uncertainty in Kyiv
Analysts point out that Ukraine is perhaps at the most critical juncture in recent months, with the dilemmas now clearly articulated:
- Acceptance of a difficult peace package
- or continuation of the war with reduced international support.
In any case, Zelensky's address leaves a strong sense that the coming days will determine the course of the country for many years.
