His son Mikis Theodorakis publicly expressed his opinion on the fact that he wants his father to be buried in a post on Facebook. "I did not defy him alive, nor will I. His wish was to be buried in Crete. We did not find out yesterday, nor did notaries, letters and the Court of First Instance need to tell us. He had expressed it in every possible way. Public. Private. Orally. Written. And he has personally taken care of the last detail. Tomorrow's proceedings in the Court of First Instance do not concern me. I am not going to attend. I did not defy my father alive. I will not do it now when the whole of Greece honors him ".
