Spyridon Tsitsigos

Spyridon Tsitsigos

He was born in Chalkida, where he completed his encyclical Letters, along with music and visual arts studies. After graduating from the Theological School of the National University of Athens with a specialization in Psychology and Philosophy, he enrolled in the Philosophy School of Rethymno, Crete. He served for over 20 years in Secondary Education, in various KEK and IEK (teaching Counseling Psychology, Cultural Anthropology and Psychology of Civilizations), as well as in the Supreme Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens.
With scholarships from the Church of Greece and the European ERASMUS program, he graduated from the University of Durham, obtaining a Master of Arts with a specialization in Patristic Depth Psychology. Returning to Greece, he completed a doctoral thesis (on Patristic Psychology) at the Theological Seminary of the University of Thessaloniki, where he was awarded a Doctor of Theology with distinction. Subsequently, he completed a second doctoral thesis (quantitative research) in the Department of Evolutionary Psychology of the Department of Psychology of the University of Athens, where he was awarded a Doctor of Psychology.
In addition to his official certification as a S.E.K. Trainer and his active presence on the Internet, he has participated in various educational, pedagogical, pastoral, psychological and psychiatric Seminars and Programs, and has taken part as a Speaker in many psychological, theological and philosophical Conferences, Workshops, Postgraduate, Postgraduate and Educational Programs of the First Synod of the Church of Greece, the Theological School of the University of Athens, various IEKs, the Athens Fire Academy, etc. Similarly, he has made various radio and television broadcasts and scientific, cultural, national, social, pedagogical, school and religious speeches in Municipalities, Chambers, multi-functional cultural and spiritual Centers of Athens, in KAPY, i. Churches, Schools, Parents' Associations, etc.
To date, he has authored more than 20 scientific books and monographs (Spiritual Fatherhood in the light of Psychology of Depth, The Soul of Man, Psychology of Religion, The Concept of Religiosity in Students and Its Relationship with Personality Characteristics and the Formation of Their Identity, God and Eros, Psychology of Religious Movements, Religion and Science, Psychology of Judeo-Christian and Roman Cultures, Spirituality and Psychology, Cognitive Psychology of Religion, etc.), dozens of studies, encyclopedic entries, while he writes articles in various magazines and newspapers.
He served as an elected Superintendent of the P.E.T. and a member of many Greek and foreign Associations or Institutes, scientific Societies (American Psychological Association, International Association of Applied Psychology, International Association for the Psychology of Religion, Association Internationale D' Etudes Medico-Psychologiques et Religieuses, Hellenic Psychological Society, Religious Research Association, etc.) and Committees, founder and director of the English-language electronic journal of the University of Athens THEOPHANY, as well as Managing Director of the journal "NEA ZION" (official organ of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem), member of the Editorial Committee of the journals "SOCIETY" and "SOCRATES", as well as a visiting Professor of foreign university Schools, and a certified Reviewer of international scientific journals. He also represented the Patriarchate of Jerusalem in interreligious and inter-Christian dialogues.
He has repeatedly been awarded with Excellence and Prizes for specific works of his, but also for his overall cultural contribution and social action, while he is the Second Vice President of the International Union of Greek Writers.
