With commemorative events in all their school units these days, the Schools of the Hellenic Community of Melbourne (HCL) celebrated the anniversary of March 25th with splendor again this year.
Educators, parents and students gathered to celebrate together the day associated with the march towards national liberation and the establishment of the Greek state. With parades, wreath-layings and beautiful school celebrations, which combined historical storytelling with puppetry, traditional dances and songs, the ECM school communities paid tribute to this very important national anniversary. In an atmosphere full of emotion, joy and pride, the younger ones had the opportunity to get to know and the older ones to remember the messages and lessons that stem from the struggle of the Greeks for freedom and national independence.
ECM Schools place special emphasis on commemorative events such as these, which deepen the ties between members of the school community, connect generations, help to continue tradition, create experiences and memories and, ultimately, cultivate national consciousness and identity.
