In the morning hours of 02-09-2025, in Neo Faliro, police officers from the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution of Crimes against Life and Property of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime arrested a 46-year-old foreigner, against whom a European Arrest Warrant was pending, which had been issued by the French Authorities.
The warrant concerned the defendant's involvement in a criminal organization that committed thefts of GPS devices and depth sounders from luxury yachts on the west and north coasts of France, reaping a total financial benefit of hundreds of thousands of euros.
The investigations began in early 2022 and led to the arrest of members of the criminal organization in France, while the involvement of the 46-year-old emerged after a pre-investigation investigation carried out by police officers of the Property Crimes Department in our country, following a request through the Europol Department of the International Police Cooperation Directorate of the Hellenic Police Headquarters.
The arrested person was taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
