To those who think that Greece does not matter today, let me say that they could not make a bigger mistake. Today, like old Greece, is of the utmost importance for anyone looking to find himself.

Cross-country skiing

Part three.

In the two previous articles I dealt with 4 ski resorts of our country.

Today the baton is held by two more:

  1. Kaimaktsalan ski resort
  2. Pelion ski resort

Winter holidays mean mountains, mountainous natural landscapes, rivers and often snow!

And it goes without saying that our country generously offers all these pleasures from end to end.

KAIMAKTSALAN SKI CENTER

This is Mount Voras with an altitude of 2524 meters, where the most famous ski resort of Northern Greece is located, which stands out thanks to its easy slopes ideal for very beginners.

Here even if you are not familiar with ski boots you might want to put them on.

It is a ski resort that is preferred by the people of Thessaloniki as it is located 127 kilometers from the co-capital.

Its beauty is special and on weekends it is suffocatingly full.

The ski cafe awaits you with hot drinks and relaxation

The nearest settlement is Paleos Agios Athanasios, an entirely stone settlement of Macedonian tradition built at the end of the 16th century.

Although it is built at an altitude of 1200 meters, it is constructed in such a way that it makes sergiani on the cobbled streets easy and not tiring at all.

They have built incredible hostels with awesome design and amenities. Some are truly impressive.

But also take a walk to Lake Vegoritida, which is the third largest lake in Greece, to enjoy a meal at Agios Panteleimon and visit the "Naumidis" workshop that grows the famous Florinis peppers.

Shop for pepper-based home supplies like sauces, pickles and other products.

This excursion may seem distant to the Athenians, but you will be compensated by the special beauty of the whole area, let alone that you can combine it with Loutra Pozar.

PELIOS SNOW CENTER

Skiing with a sea view.

The ski resort Agriolefkes is only 2 kilometers from the settlement of Chania Pelion which is the most mountainous village, and it is a ski resort that stretches to 1471 meters altitude.

It is low but the morphology of its terrain and the peculiarities during snowfall allow it to have a total of 5 pistes of 15 km. 4 mains and an endurance road course.

At the present stage, its operation has been suspended due to the lack of snow, however its areas remain open for recreation and walks.

But let's see what we have to do there and what to visit.

First of all, Agios Lavrentios is, perhaps, one of the most romantic villages in the area with a great view of Pagasitikos. It has several restored mansions, mostly from the 18th centuryth century, built by Epirus craftsmen such as the Miller tower, the Stella house, etc. Sit in the plane tree-covered square to drink your coffee and enjoy the view. Walk through its alleys and reach Panagia Sourevlou with its beautiful surroundings.

You will also find the village of Kissos at 1,2 kilometers from the ski slope. A small but beautiful village hidden in the beech and walnut trees, with stone houses and waterfalls around it.

It goes without saying that you will not miss staying or visiting Chania Pelion!

Did you know that Chania joins western and eastern Pelion?

Now that you know it, it is certain that you will take long walks throughout the area.

You will find excellent tavernas for food, as well as very good accommodation for accommodation.

As for Portaria, Pinakates, Vyzitsa and Tsagarada, I'm sure you've heard of them before, but we'll deal more extensively with the villages of Pelion in the next article.

The winter escapes in our Greece will compensate you wherever you choose to go.

Pack your bags….
