Christos Skiadaresis

Christos Skiadaresis is a philologist - educator and writer. He graduated from the Classical High School of Peristeri and studied philosophy at EKPA. He is an honors graduate of two postgraduate programs ("History of Philosophy" and "Modern and Modern Greek History"). He lives and works in Athens but comes from Lefkada. For twenty-five consecutive years he has been teaching the courses of Modern Greek Language - Literature and History to high school students. At the same time, he has worked as a translator on behalf of the magazine "National Geographic" and the National Historical Archive (he translated important works such as: "History of Karolidis", "The Fall of Constantinople according to the chronicle of Georgios Frantzis", "Letters of Kapodistria 1827- 1831", "Constantinos Paleologos and Alosis tis Polis" by Gustavos Schlumwerze, etc.) as well as editor-in-chief of free-press newspapers. In his spare time he reads and writes non-stop poems, essays, articles, short stories and reviews. He has published poetry collections, a collection of quotes and essays. His texts have been hosted in anthologies, newspapers, magazines and websites. He has written more than two hundred (200) articles in print and electronic press. Also, very often, he presents to the general public - in amphitheatres, chambers, spiritual centers, historical halls and reading clubs - the new poetry collections of his contemporary authors or the life and work of acclaimed Greek and foreign writers. He has participated in many literary competitions and has been awarded for his work by municipalities, cultural associations, magazines and institutions. For example: In 2012 his short story "Television" was chosen by Michel Faiss as one of the fifteen best of that year and was published in an e-book by "Pataki" publications in the collection of short stories entitled "Hotel Papadiamantis". In 2014 he was distinguished in the pan-Hellenic short story competition "Antonis Samarakis" with his short story "Quartet for Three". In 2019 he was awarded by the Kefalonian writers for his work and his active presence in letters, in the intellect and in modern intellectual activity. In 2024, he was named in Volos as an honorary founding member of World Cavafy Day by the National Council of UNESCO Greece, the International Art Academy and the International Art Society. Vassilis Vassilikos, Antonis Fostieris, Thanasis Niarchos, Konstantinos Bouras, Dionis Dimitriadou, Kostas Karousos, Dimitris Karamvalis, Kaiti Livada, Panagiota Christopoulou Zaloni, etc. have all expressed praise for his literary work. a. Finally, he is an accredited catechist of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and a member of the Society of Greek Philologists, the Society of Greek Writers and the Society of Lefkada Studies.
