The ground floor of the Watermill hosted the 26th Livadia Cartoon Exhibition, whose inauguration took place on Sunday evening, June 1, 2025.
This is an institution that started in the Lafystion area and in recent years was moved to Livadia.
With the tireless efforts of its initiators, the Exhibition has taken deep roots in the cultural life of the place and has gained Panhellenic and International recognition!
Important Artists from Greece and Abroad participate every year with their works, confirming the appeal of the Exhibition.
This year, it had a theme "City life with humor" It took on an educational character with the participation of 15 selected students from Livadia Schools.
In accordance with Yannis Geroulias, [FECO Levad Member] Cartoonist who is the soul of the Exhibition, the participation of students is promising, “so that the baton of the Organization can be passed on to the new generation”.
This year's honored artist was John Antono Illustrator and Comics Creator from the younger generation of Cartoonists, who, as he revealed, has been sending his Sketches to the Exhibition for over a decade.
What is reflected in the Exhibits is the confirmation that:
“Cartooning is not just Art. It is commentary, it is satire, it is political and social observation through the filter of intelligence and sensitivity. In a world where words often lose their power, an image can express with humor and clarity what many hesitate to say. Acclaimed artists and new voices participated. They presented works that troubled, moved and —above all— made us smile.
The artistic participation of the artist Sofia Mitraki in her capacity as a Sketcher-Cartoonist was also significant.
In his greeting, during the Opening Ceremony, the Mayor of Levadeion Dimitris Karamanis Among other things, he referred to the support for the principle of the Report of the then late Mayor Christos Palaiologos.
The Deputy Governor of Boeotia also spoke about an institution that is now successful in the city of Livadia, George Dassiotis who attended the Opening Ceremony.
In the epilogue of the Opening Ceremony, the Livadeite Poet recited a poem dedicated to the Exhibition. D. Apostolou.
