The two "Andreas Giannitsopoulos" awards for 2026 were won by students from Romania and Northern Epirus with their writings.
From Romania, the award goes to the poem by Dimitris Mytiliniou from Craiova entitled "The Poem of Heroes", which refers to the Revolution of 1821. Dimitris Mytiliniou is fourteen years old and attends the 1st High School at Mircea Eliade, Craiova.
From Northern Epirus, the award goes to the exhibition of Eleftheria Kentrou by Kalogorantzi of Dropoli with the theme "Here where even the stones speak Greek..." Eleftheria Kentrou is seventeen years old and is a student in the 2nd year of high school at the Vouliarata Comprehensive School.
Therefore, the following will each receive five hundred euros (500€):
- Dimitris Mytilinios, Craiova, Romania
- Freedom Center, Kalogorantzi Dropoli, Northern Epirus
The Hellenism Committee congratulates all the students who participated in this competition.
We remind you that this award is announced at the expense of the Hellenic Committee member Andreas Giannitsopoulos in memory of his grandson Andreas Giannitsopoulos, our expatriate resident of the USA, who lost his life unexpectedly in 2021 at the age of only 21.
