Unthinkable, but true: for a full 50 years, Turkish occupying troops remain in a part of the Republic of Cyprus in violation of dozens of resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly! How can such a tragic event be justified? Is this indifference or expediency on the part of the UN Member States, especially the 5 Powerful Permanent Members of the SA, as well as the EU of which it is a member, but also NATO, which is striving to replace the UN? Indifference is rejected because such an important event, which concerns a particularly strategically important member of the Organization and the EU, is not justified by any force! On the contrary, the second, the expediency, hidden and beautified, predominates in the framework of "Divide and Conquer" (Divide et Impero) because, simply, it serves the great interests of the Strong players of the tragic world chessboard, who vindicate the great Thucydides throughout time!
Epigrammatically, because the history of the Cyprus Tragedy is known, our powerful "allies" undermined the Union of Cyprus with Greece simply because a vacuum of power had been created which, just as the wind covers the vacuum of air, so did the above, within the framework of their office in International Relations that the competition system cannot survive without adversaries, they strategically rushed to cover it up, to use subordinate bodies in Greece and Cyprus, to mislead and use the Junta to commit the crime of withdrawing ELDYK from Cyprus, the despicable attempt murder of Makarios, becoming co-responsible for the great "crime" of allowing Turkey to illegally invade the Republic of Cyprus and occupy a large part of it, which, unfortunately, it still cynically owns in the context of Ankara's neo-imperialist policy with tolerance " allies' in the UN, the EU and NATO.
A serious cause of the anti-Cypriot behavior of the Strong "allies" was the fact that the Republic of Cyprus belonged to the Non-Aligned, a fact that irritated some of the Strong, who have always sought world domination, but, however, it is practically unattainable as history has proven . And they tolerated Turkey's invasion of Cyprus with rapes, murders of women and children and prisoners-missing persons, Napalm bombs, etc. war crimes. And they continue to scream at nothing, even attacking UN Peacekeepers! However, no effective reaction from the Organization beyond words. But was there a reaction from UNESCO and religious leaders for the conversion of Hagia Sophia et al. Christian churches in mosques? What decadence!
What is the logical explanation for this vicious cycle of Turkish provocations and international reactions? Expediency and again expediency! Let us consider that UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, with the agreement of "Greek" leaders and others, proposed his infamous Plan to divide Cyprus and essentially put it under the control of Turkey and Turkish Cypriots, and fortunately that the late and brave Leader Tassos Papadopoulos reacted and 76% of Greek Cypriots rejected it even though, according to press reports, many millions of dollars had been allocated by Powerful "allies" to buy out voters.
And we arrive at the sad today, where the neo-imperialist Turkey, with the tolerance and cooperation of Powerful neo-colonial Powers, supposedly "democratic", in the context of the Turkish-neo-Nazi "LEBENSRAUM", has a military base in Albania, in countries of MA, an illegal agreement with Libya, cooperates with Skopje against Greece, and plays on all boards with excess hypocrisy, theatrics and thuggery, with the illusion that it is a "Superpower", blackmailing wherever it can, defying international Organizations, international Conventions, the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, UNCLOS, guarding, like a wild beast, to attack and devour everything weak and defenseless it finds, but compromising and bowing where it cannot (recently with Egypt, etc.) The infamous Turkish audacity! It still reminds of Churchill's famous quote about the USSR and the rigid dictator Stalin "A mystery wrapped in an enigma"! But, with such serious problems facing Turkey internally, the 30 million Kurds without a country, Armenians, crypto-Christians, etc., its military, neo-imperialist involvement in other countries, the collapse of its economy, scandals etc., has imposed a fascist regime, with murders, imprisonments of thousands of military journalists, professors, etc., because, otherwise, there would have been civil war and dissolution. Its only correct and democratic choice will be its compliance with the decisions of the UN and the EU! Road of no return!
Therefore, in conclusion, what should be the reaction of Greece and the Republic of Cyprus? Compromise and "policy of appeasement", which were very wisely analyzed by distinguished scientists such as the President of ELISME General I. Baltzoi and the Cypriot MEP K. Mavridis, or a new unifying and strategically coordinated reaction, with the active participation of the Community, based on the Charter and the decisions of the UN and the EU?
