The greater part of the book refers to Andreas Syngros, the demon Chiotis Stavrodromitis, who with his intelligence and financial power, which this provided him, raised and brought down governments.
The author vividly describes his character through various episodes decisive for his adventurous life. This book, which she describes as a historical novel, I consider to be a well-edited and successful historical research with the relevant bibliography, a research that combines history with literature and requires painstaking work from the author. E. Kekropoulou, known for years in the field of writers, translators and publishers, impresses us with her latest multi-page work, written with historical knowledge and literary experience.
The Crossroads of the Romans of the City, in an extremely elegant edition, is dedicated "to all those who still keep Romeo in them" and is deeply moved by the fact that from the beginning of the Greek Revolution onwards, because of the Turks, nothing of the old remained aristocracy of spirit and wealth, with the exception of those who managed to escape to the West, to Russia or to the newborn Greece.
