The ELIZA Association was founded in Greece in 2008, with the sole purpose of protecting children from all forms of abuse. On the initiative of ELIZA, Child Safety Care Units are established in public hospitals across the country with the aim of early detection, comprehensive assessment and medical care of children suspected of abuse and neglect. Today, with the support of the Association, 5 Units operate in: Attica (2), Thessaloniki, Alexandroupoli and Patras. At the same time, the Association supports professionals who care for children, as well as the children themselves, through actions and interventions in schools, municipalities, structures and agencies nationwide. To date, more than 30.000 professionals have been trained on issues of identifying and managing cases of children suspected of abuse/neglect. The culmination of ELIZA's continuous efforts to be in a meaningful way alongside people who care for young children is the operation of the ELIZA Hotline 10454, which offers assistance and guidance for incidents of abuse.
