Are there still Greeks here and in Dispersion, with rudimentary education and experience, who doubt that Greece, after its "liberation" from the Ottoman yoke, is a permanent "reservoir" of brain drain, workforce and victims of war conflicts, and a - more generally - a "protectorate" of powerful Forces? The late Papadiamantis was probably right when he said that we were freed from the Ottomans, but we got new tyrants. An epigrammatic historical review will be useful to support the above.
Starting with the tragic assassination of the great Politician and Diplomat Kapodistrias, who, if he had lived, Greece would have been better than the Switzerland he created and which he highly honors, which foreign Powers are jointly responsible? (Father Mavromichalis' last words before dying were, according to Historians, "anathema to the Anglo-French"). And from there began the great decline of Greece, with the imposition of anti-democratic regimes, foreign to Greek tradition and philosophy, resulting in a permanent destructive division, which led the country to terrible adventures, first of all the Asia Minor Campaign-Tragedy, the result of which was the loss of approximately EIGHTY THOUSAND GREEK PEOPLE, in addition to the other dramatic and tragic consequences, political, social, economic, cultural. Which foreign Powers are jointly responsible? Who convinced and indirectly pressured the Greek leadership at the time to proceed with a failed war adventure, for which military Epaiontes had given a deterrent warning? And the worst: The tragic perpetuation of the division. Unjust conspiratorial execution of the SIX, but acquittal - again due to foreign interventions - of the prince mainly responsible for the defeat, murders, exiles, etc. And this first division planted its seeds for the second and worst one after WWXNUMX, the CIVIL which set the country back hundreds of years.
However, it was preceded by the involvement of Greece in the Bolshevik Revolution where the Greek government, as a "willing-idiot", accepted to send an expeditionary force against them, something they did not forget and later helped the Turks in Asia Minor, where, in conjunction with the tragic errors-crimes of the then Greek leaders (those who were responsible), contributed to Greece's defeat.
For the CIVIL, who signed the Secret Pact of Moscow in October 1944, which divided the Balkans into Spheres of Influence as if they were fields, and because of it the CIVIL began with the responsibility-primarily- of the loyalists of the anti-Helian Stalin rebels, a principle born with the unprovoked their attack on Litochoro. Then, in WWXNUMX, where without the heroic Greek Resistance, with hundreds of thousands of victims, the Nazis would have defeated the Allies (something the Allies celebrated, but remained silent), what was their attitude towards the resolution of the just national us issues? We lost Northern Epirus because of their immoral interference. When the late Papagos proposed that the North-Continent should be included in the Agenda of the UN General Assembly, the then American government reacted by saying that Albania would ally with the USSR! And the Greek Minority in Albania, which Albania is heavily benefited by Greece but allied with Turkey, is under constant persecution in violation of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, with the tolerance of powerful "friends" and "allies ».
And let's not forget the war in Korea where the Greek expeditionary force participated with serious losses.
Then, the tragedy of Cyprus, again with the cooperation of powerful "friends" and "allies", who still, after 49 years, tolerate Turkish occupying troops in the Republic of Cyprus in violation of dozens of UN resolutions, the UN Charter, International Law, International Conventions and the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In particular, the fact that, despite the neo-imperialist, revisionist policy of Turkey, with daily threats and provocations against Greece, (Imia, Evros, etc., plus the hundreds drowned in the Aegean by illegal Turkish traffickers, and plus the horrible act of tearing down the world cultural monument Hagia Sophia and turning it into a mosque, with the cynical tolerance and indifference of Christian Leaders and UNESCO!) the "democratic" US government not only tolerates the imperialist, fascist behavior of Turkey, which is permanently suffering from incurable multi-sector political COVID, with all that entails, but wants to sell it F-16s to use against whom, with its tolerance?
And later the usurpation of the ancient and glorious name of Macedonia by an artificial state - pariah - with the shameful and long-term unsustainable "Prespa agreement", cynically imposed by "friends" and "allies" in the context of the infamous "Divide and Conquer (Divide et Impera), and which violates the UN Charter whose fundamental pillar is the popular verdict, which in this case was not respected despite the strong objections of the Greek people, but also of other neighbors. Apart from the fact that Skopje is conspiring with Turkey in anti-Greek plans.
In the economic field, what was the role of the IMF and foreign banks that put Greece under financial hostage with the infamous Memoranda with dramatic results for the Greek people and in violation of the IMF Charter itself. Article 1 states: "One of the purposes of the Fund is to create confidence among its members by making available to them temporarily the general resources of the Fund under sufficient guarantees to give them the opportunity to correct imbalances in their balance of payments without resorting to measures which would are destructive to national or international well-being'. I pointed it out, but, unfortunately, I don't remember any relevant reference or reaction in the Greek media, etc.
Also, in the recent war in Ukraine, self-willed and "willing idiots", local leaders, who, of course, had to help with humanitarian aid, blindly obeying the dictates of powerful "allies" and "friends", were willing to send military material at risk to involve the country in adventures with whatever that means, while other countries of the Alliance did not compromise. And Greece, cradle of democracy and advocate of peace, instead of taking initiatives to solve the problem diplomatically, another country, Turkey, also a member of NATO, but neo-imperialist, with a revisionist, fascist regime, in addition to illegally occupying a part of the Republic of Cyprus, trivializing its UN, EU, and NATO Charters, and with hundreds murdered, imprisoned, etc. in Turkey itself, which does not sign the Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), violating any concept of law, it projects itself as a "mediator"-"peacemaker"! MERCY! And the International Organizations are silent. Amnesia! Cynical indifference! But great passion for Ukraine! O TEMP0RA O MORES!
Democratic ideals and values have lost their value in the face of material passions. What decadence! After all, do some powerful people want to cause new war tragedies in the Balkans, the "powder keg"? QUID PRODEST? Brighter than the sun, the inhuman domineering, profit-seeking warlike complexes, which cannot survive without an opponent, an enemy, and have bled humanity, continue inexorably to nothing. What a decline of civilization and democracy! Also, on the important issue of German War Reparations and the Return of the Parthenon Marbles, what is the attitude of "friends" and "allies"?
Result for Greece: Division, climate of phobia, insecurity, unemployment, brain drain (the most genius minds end up in the USA, first of all N. Christofilos who invented their anti-nuclear umbrella-ARGUS- and many others in various fields), workforce , and even more victims in upcoming, possibly, war conflicts, divisive anti-Hellenic circles in the Diaspora, etc. Return to the tragic past? What optimism for the future can we talk about?
More generally, after the Civil War there is a decline in all sectors. Demographic shrinkage, abandonment of the province (if the theory of the great Kyriakos Varvaresos on decentralization and the creation of rural towns had been implemented, Greece would have progressed and prospered!), a serious reduction in the national production of agricultural products, insufficient functioning of institutions, nepotism, corruption, political, social, economic and cultural scandals, crime, and what else is contained in Pandora's Box where even hope has been introduced to the international stock market!
The sad conclusion is that Greece is being used by "friends" and "allies" for their own exclusive interests. It reminds of the story of the horse that was grazing freely in the forest, a hunter saw it and tried to put a bridle on it, but the horse was smart and strong and ran away, but as night fell and the cry of a wolf was heard and the horse became afraid, its Hunter he said to put a bridle on him and go home, with the promise that the next day he would let him go, and the innocent and naive horse agreed, but the next day, when the horse told him to keep his promise and let him go free, the cunning hunter shouted intimidatingly: "wolf." And this continued where the ungainly horse "adjusted". And "wolf" in the case of Greece is, depending on the case, Turkey and other countries in the region, so that the "horse" Greece, this irreplaceable GOLD-MINER-MAN-MINER can be exploited by the gold-miners-man-miners. At least they would solve our just national interests by proving their adherence to democratic ideals and the UN Charter that they have signed and ratified!
It is, however, an auspicious message that in recent years France and the American Congress seem to be reacting positively towards Greece, and they deserve a lot of credit to the Greek Lobby, which with the right strategy is doing the right thing for our national interests, as well as the important alliances that the Greek leadership, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has achieved in recent years, with Egypt, Israel, the UAE, etc.! Also investments from USA etc. Countries. So optimism, but with constant vigilance, unity, solidarity, strong Armed Forces, strong diplomacy, holistic education, demographics, etc. development, meritocracy!
