The areas with the highest number of homeless people remain Riviera Beach and West Palm Beach, while Belle Glade and Lake Worth Beach also record increased needs.
Innovative Approaches at Riviera Beach
In Riviera Beach, the number of homeless people decreased from 236 in 2024 to 107 in 2025, thanks to a new approach that combines:
-
Police
-
Social workers
-
Mental health specialists
This group, instead of repressive measures, builds relationships of trust with the homeless, offering them direct assistance and guidance.
New Online Portal for the Homeless
Palm Beach County has launched a new online portal that allows citizens to apply online for assistance with housing, mental health, nutrition and support issues.
Access to the platform:
https://discover.pbcgov.org/communityservices/HCA/pages/Homeless-Resources.aspx
The portal is also available through 8 special kiosks in public locations across the county.
Concerns and Shortcomings
Despite the encouraging data, many professionals in the field express concerns that many people may not have been counted, due to:
-
Of a mobile nature
-
Fear of contact with the authorities
-
Staying in “invisible” areas, such as cars or abandoned buildings
"The numbers may be going down, but behind every statistic there is a person who needs help," said Jacqueline Taylor, a member of the County Homelessness Council.
