Let's welcome the month of June, which is the first month of this summer!
This month has many names, mainly in the rural areas of Greece, related to June.
They call him "the reaper" because farmers reap their fields as they have ripened and taken on the golden yellow color of the sun!
In other areas, they call it "Kerasari" because that's when the delicious cherries ripen and are ready for harvest and sale.
Another of its many names is "Cicada" due to the increased sunshine as the days have grown longer and the cicadas make their presence felt, hidden in the cool foliage of the trees.
I will mention one of the many proverbs of this month, which are related to what I mentioned above. (Don't let the frog and the swallow laugh at you, if the cicada doesn't sing, it's not summer).
The housewives in the northern regions of the country have taken down the winter bedding from their homes, saying: "Good autumn" since then they will put it back on after cleaning it first and the first concern is the yards or balconies.
So they are filled with all kinds of ornamental plants such as aromatic basil, carnations, colorful dahlias, roses, daisies, petunias, fragrant jasmines, and gardenias.
The colorful geraniums decorate every window, heralding that summer has arrived!
Also, let's not forget the fragrant Honeysuckle that gives the Divine scents to the fences of the houses in the countryside!
Schools are closing and children's exams are over!
So it's time for a vacation at the sea for their first swims, on the wonderful beaches as the days are now sunnier and warmer.
Excursions with the line's ships to all our beautiful islands are made on peaceful routes, as long as the storms and strong winds of winter and the abrupt changes of spring stop.
The beautiful bougainvillea in every island yard or alley provides the most beautiful images to delight the eyes of every visitor!
Nature continues to create every moment, filling it with intoxicating aromas from the blooming vines and the well-tended vineyards!
And as it is a crucial month for Greek beekeeping, it marks the beginning of the flowering period for bees, collecting pollen from thyme, fir, lime, myrtle, primrose, and colorful wildflowers, yielding the excellent quality honey that is famous all over the world.
The first month of summer is the one that gives rise to unique excursions, even to mountainous destinations in our homeland.
The tourist season is beginning to increase in our blessed land because the amenities and attractions of this country are unique to everyone!
The routes even in Northern Greece, which are made up of laden red cherry, sour cherry and peach trees, awaken the senses, for beautiful, refreshing flavors that abound with strawberries, medlars and apricots.
So the senses that delight every traveler, hiker, walker as the precious fruits of the earth are now in abundance!
What can you say about this month of joy and rebirth that fills every person, young or old, with optimism?
And one could say that this is mainly due to the sunshine and the long duration of the day.
The viruses that plague us during the months of autumn, winter, and spring stop.
The heavy rains stop, we dress lightly and enjoy the good weather by doing various tasks with more enthusiasm!
That's why people's psychology is constantly rising until its peak, which awaits an August to be completed!
