May 19th is not just a date. It is a cry that was not forgotten. It is the day that Greece and Pontus they stand in memory of 353.000 souls who perished from the atrocities of Turkish nationalism. It is the day that Uprooting became identity, and loss became a song.
And so, this year, coincidentally or not, in the same period, a young Greek artist, Klavdia, took to the stage of Eurovision 2025, with a song that it wasn't pop, it wasn't just participation – it was a deposit of soul.
With roots in the Pontic tradition, with images that reminded of exile, lost memories, refugee status, and with “Eagle Dust” hovering on stage like an untouched soul, Klavdia didn't just sing for herself. He sang about Pontus, Smyrna, Cappadocia, History.
???? He may have taken the 6rd place,
???? He may not have formally "won",
???? But for the Pontians, for the refugees, for the Greece of the heart, it was first.
Why
Because you don't have to say "Genocide" to sing it.
You don't need to shout "Pontos" to make people feel it.
Not just for those who were lost.
But also for those who continue to remind — with every word, every verse, every breath — that History is not erased.
And if anything remains...
is Starry eyesWhich It became a song for all the mothers who waited and did not see, for all those who were lost in the depths of History — but live within us..
