Earlier, he had spoken to Hellenic Police officers at an event of the Union of Police Officers of Northeastern Attica. The Minister congratulated the Hellenic Police Officers and Officers for the good work they have done all this year, pointing out that the political and physical leadership will continue to be by their side in the effort being made, as the basic strategy for combating crime is vigilance.
"Criminals do not sleep, crime does not rest, crime is here, every day, and it devises ways to harm the interests of society and social peace. The goal is to provide security and for people to feel that for every problem they have the police by their side," he said.
He then addressed the Mayor of Fyli, Christos Pappou, with whom there is close cooperation to resolve the specific issues facing the area. As the Minister said, as soon as he met him, the Mayor thanked him for the good work being done in the Municipality, telling him: "Finally, we can sleep at night." "We must continue our work to make the lives of our fellow citizens easier, to improve people's quality of life. We must continue this work that we have started," stressed Michalis Chrysochoidis.
Furthermore, he referred to the strengthening of the Services both in terms of personnel and in terms of means and technology. He made particular reference to the action of the Prevention and Mediation Teams in settlements with high delinquency, as well as to the policing teams in public transport, within the framework of the ARIADNE project, emphasizing that they complement an essential protection and security plan in the area, which will gradually, with additions and actions, constitute a complete security framework.
He then spoke about the need to support police personnel and noted that 2025 was extremely productive in terms of increasing their income, while in 2026, special emphasis will be placed on strengthening personnel, in order to help the Attica Police Officers who bear the greatest burden from the Services and their colleagues in the Region. He reiterated that the Attica Services will be strengthened with a total of 1.400 people, of which 800 in the spring and the remaining 600 from the autumn.
