Ο OSDEL (Organization for the Collective Management of Works of the Word), within the framework of its cultural and social work, is implementing a major Pan-Hellenic Awareness and Mobilization Campaign for the benefit of its contractors and the creative community as a whole. The Campaign aims to highlight the importance of Intellectual Property and highlight the imperative need to protect it against uncontrolled applications of Artificial Intelligence.
In a world that is constantly changing, with developments succeeding one another at a rapid pace, the value and importance of Intellectual Property seem to be weakening in the consciousness of society as a whole, readers, businesses, and institutional bodies. At the same time, Artificial Intelligence is dynamically entering our everyday lives, offering unlimited possibilities, but at the same time constituting a serious threat to every form of creation and every creator, when its use is not governed by a clear and fair legislative framework.
The Campaign's message is clear: "Together we demand the protection of Intellectual Property Rights. Together we continue Creation."
Because the protection of Copyright is not just a formal procedure; it is the practical encouragement of signed writing, genuine and free information, original creation and authentic educational content. It is, above all, the shield against massive and thoughtless automated reproduction.
According to a recent survey (Focus Bari, November 2024), 9 out of 10 Greeks consider strict regulations on the use of AI necessary. AI is evolving at breakneck speed. However, legislation is not. And, in the case of Intellectual Property Rights, critical issues are still pending.
The Campaign focuses on four categories of creators:
Authors – Publishers: because no story should be left in the middle.
Journalists – Press Publishers: because no article should stop being written.
Illustrators – Image Creators: because no sketch should stop being drawn.
Academics – Researchers: because no investigation should be left incomplete.
Creators of all kinds, writers, translators, publishers, journalists, artists and researchers, constitute the living force of culture, knowledge, art and information. The protection of Intellectual Property Rights is not a luxury, but a necessary condition for the continuation of culture, education and free expression, in the new era of artificial intelligence.
The communication action is developed, with nationwide coverage, through informative texts with statistical data, through television and radio spots, a dynamic presence on social media and promotional activities, with the active participation of dozens of renowned Greek creators and publishers.
In November 2025, collectible bookmarks will also be released, with the phrase "Everything worth writing is worth signing", which the reading public will be able to purchase for free from bookstores and cultural venues.
