ONE OF THE 33 WOMEN IN THE WORLD WHO HAS ACHIEVED A SECOND TOQUETO
40-year-old Irene Kokka gave birth to a healthy baby girl, weighing 2 kilos and 900 grams, by cesarean section on Sunday at 10:35 a.m. Mother and newborn are in excellent health and are under close monitoring by Mr. Pantos' medical team.
Mrs. Kokka stated: "Today I hold our miracle in my arms. Every difficulty was worth it for this moment. Hope is a force that gives birth to life. I thank my doctor's team for making it a reality."
The attending physician, President of the GENESIS ATHENS Clinic and Secretary General of the Hellenic Society of Reproductive Medicine, Mr. Konstantinos Pantos, stated: "Irini is one of only 33 cases internationally that have achieved a second birth after ovarian tissue transplantation. This result measurably confirms the reactivation of the transplanted ovarian cortex and the preservation of fertility over time. Where science meets perseverance, boundaries are pushed. Congratulations above all to the mother, the father and the entire team."
It is recalled that Ms. Kokka, in 2013 after treatments for Hodgkin lymphoma, proceeded with cryopreservation of ovarian tissue and in 2021, the cryopreserved ovarian cortex was transplanted into her non-functional ovaries at GENESIS ATHENS, with the collaboration of the Oslo University Hospital team under the supervision of gynecologist Konstantinos Pantos. This was followed by egg collections, fertilization and embryo transfers that led to two successful pregnancies and two more healthy births.

GENESIS ATHENS continues to invest in evidence-based innovation in reproductive medicine, offering hope and perspective to women who have faced threats to their fertility.
