A few words about the project:
Giannoulis Chalepas was one of the greatest artists, whose works are admired and studied worldwide to this day. His life... is simply fictional. Like something out of a horror movie, but with a happy ending.
The first years in Tinos, the studies abroad, the creative years in Athens in the 1800s, the awards, the worldwide recognition... but also the confinement in the psychiatric hospital of Corfu for 14 years, the isolation and strict supervision of his mother, his great love that was to shape his entire life... loneliness... pain... deprivation... some of the words that make up the life of a man and creator.
With his cell as a springboard, in the psychiatric hospital of Corfu, the performance of the work by Angelos Andreopoulos, directed by Alexandros Liakopoulos, with Giorgis Kontopodis in the role of the great creator, takes us on a journey through all the important stages of the life of Ioannis or... Giannoulis (as his mother affectionately called him) and gives us the magnitude of the intelligence but also of the pain, both of himself and of all the artists who, over the centuries, were characterized as Salemen (Saloi) but remained and remain engraved in our conscience and memory.
A performance, not biographical, but purely psychological, for all those people, whose era did not allow them to smile, but who continued to believe and create... until the moment they touched the Divine... and were not dazzled... but saw... and they constantly exist, to remind us of a phrase...
…It's never too late…

“This text is a punch to the social establishment”
Eleni Anagnostopoulou – fractalart.gr
"The tragic life of the great artist passes entirely through the powerful interpretation of Giorgis Kontopodis and captivates us"
Lena Savva – theater.gr ¨
"A chilling whole that wins you over, offering tension, varied textures and realistic heartbreak"
Jenny Koukidou – koukidaki.gr
“This monologue drove me crazy. This performance drove me crazy”
Kostas Koulis Noizy.gr
"The show is one of those monologues where you leave the theater and look for a little cool air to "hit" you in the face."
Thodoris K. – sinwebradio.on
"The words flow, the emotions flow. The soul is visible. That's what I left with the play. It doesn't just talk about Halepas' life, it talks about his soul and that's what takes the audience away." iart.gr
"Rarely does one watch a performance with such equal and balanced harmony of its three components, the writer, the director and the actor. A performance that we all must see."
Vangelis Raftopoulos thesspress.gr
"Yorgis Kontopodis seizes the text, passes the words into his soul, filters them in an unsurpassed way and offers it with all its intensity, all its sensitivity and multi-levels, so directly, so distinctly that no one and nothing remains unmoved."
Αimiles of Floro artviews.gr
"Yorgis Kontopodis flawlessly handles all the emotions of his role, imbued with them to convey to us the tragedy of the life of a "mad saint" who was wronged by people, but vindicated through his art. Everything emerges through the interpretative emotional alternations of the actor who brings his extraordinary acting wealth to the stage."
