Mother, mother, mama, mother (for the advanced!). No matter how you say it, the word Mother is the same. Mother to the young, mother to the old, mother you hear everywhere. Mother, a sweet word. You say it and shivers of emotion take hold of you. Why?? What does this little word with only 4 letters hide and it shocks us all?? This little word has something deep, something Holy and divine in it. It brings to life a new life, a tender existence with an immortal soul and great innocence and a tender heart. The blessed fruit from God of the carnal union of man and woman, after the divine bond with the blessings of our Holy Church with the sacred institution of marriage preceded. The mother and the pregnant baby experience each other's feelings for nine months.
For this wonderful creature of the world, a day of the year was designated to be celebrated and honored worldwide. What an injustice!! Mother is celebrated every day, because her contribution must be honored daily by each of us. We wondered what the planet earth or each of us would be like if there were no mother?? The light giver of life?? Would there be life or would there be chaos??
No matter how much one writes about this venerable person, it will be little in the limited space of an article. Painters immortalized her, sculptors and statuettes sculpted her form, poets sang about her, the folk muse glorified her. She was very closely connected to tradition and folk poetry, the folk song.
Pillar of the family in the difficult years when the husband worked far from the family to ensure the family's livelihood. The mother at his feet. A vigilant guard for the children. To stay up all night at their bedside if they were sick, to cover them so they wouldn't catch a cold and to prepare them for the next day's lessons for school. To make sure that the food was on time and hot for the children, who would return from school or work. To talk with them, to solve the children's questions or queries and to supervise them during their playtime. She could not abandon the agricultural work of sowing or harvesting, the family's livestock, the loom and the kitchen. Large families with many children were a blessing from God. The modern mother also faces similar situations.
The mother is identified with selfless love and giving. Her whole existence is an endless smile and an open embrace to accept her children. A smile from her children makes her forget all the fatigue and all the bitterness from the behavior of her bowels. She sacrifices her will to the desire of her child. She lives, moves and breathes for the good of her children, offering everything for the good of their bodies and souls. She takes care to nurture them with love for God, and Orthodoxy, as well as love for the homeland and its long glorious history. Two basic axes of the path towards true Life.
We gave our first smile and our first cry to our mother. We made our first secret her property. We resorted to her to communicate our success or failure, as well as to ask for her protection when we did something wrong and the father's words would be a little harsh. She knew how to manage situations with wisdom and love, for the benefit of the child.
Mothers of the world, you have offered much. We have given you little. Please forgive us.
