On the occasion of 80th UN Anniversary
40 years ago, on the occasion of the International Year of Peace (1986), the late Eupatrides, UN Secretary-General Javier Pérez de Cuéllar, in his message, noted, among other things: "Humanity today is at a crossroads. The path to the future remains open, subject to a choice that must be made. One path leads to peace and the other to self-destruction. As military spending continues to increase and ever more advanced weapons technologies are developed, the threat of nuclear annihilation has reached a critical point. This, however, is not the only challenge of our time. The world today must also confront the suffering caused by regional and local conflicts, the adverse effects of disease and poverty, the misery of famine and natural disasters. It is time to act for the future well-being of all nations with the vision and foresight that peace demands. The International Year of Peace offers a rare opportunity for UN Member States, NGOs, Academic Institutions, etc. to focus their attention on the problems and aspirations of peace... The need to limit and ultimately end the arms race has never been so pressing. It is also of the utmost importance to find preventive means of ending local and regional conflicts and reducing existing tensions. Concrete steps are needed to eradicate hunger and malnutrition and to ensure and satisfy basic human needs throughout the world. Concerted efforts must also be made to end all forms of inequality and discrimination, especially Apartheid. As the International Year of Peace begins, let us realize that the theme “Securing Peace and the Future of Humanity” provides us with an important focus not only for 1986 but for the years to come. Let us seize the opportunities of 1986 with determination, convinced that we can take significant steps toward the lasting peace on which a better world depends.”
Unfortunately, however, these important words of the Secretary-General fell on deaf ears.
Let's take a brief look back at the history of the UN, which, by the way, is well-known.
Together with the idealistic initiators of the establishment of the Organization (FDR etc.) after the great tragedy of World War II which cost approximately 80 million lives due to the insane and bloodthirsty Hitler and his accomplices, some cunning individuals, instruments of dark authoritarian, profit-making circles, began their subversive actions in the Organization, first rejecting any attempt to ban war in general, as had happened in the League, because in the meantime the companies producing and trading weapons systems had become a state within a state, adopting the doctrine of the necessary enemy, of fierce competition that cannot survive without rivals. And humanity experienced the horrors of the Korean, Vietnam, Congo, Iraq wars, the dissolution of Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, M.A. etc., while NATO, which was founded under the auspices of the UN to represent it regionally, scandalously tends to replace it. The Warsaw Pact was founded because of NATO, but it was dissolved. However, NATO continues unabated… Why does it not join the UN Peacekeeping Forces? “Power corrupts”!…
And today, hundreds of thousands of human victims in the Russia-Ukraine war {because Russia, which sacrificed approximately 24 million of its citizens to resist neo-barbaric Nazism (plus the Greek Resistance), is for the ungrateful, inhumane warmongering circles an important target of speculation and division, which behind the scenes support neo-Nazi groups which are strangely and constantly increasing dangerously in Europe. And today's Russia is not the infamous USSR, where the cruel dictator Stalin committed genocides and other terrible crimes. (And a very crucial detail: before the infamous Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, Stalin had requested the alliance of the USA, UK and France to confront Hitler, but they refused and Stalin, acting very smartly to prepare militarily, etc., proceeded with the above Agreement). Also, let us not forget the Secret Moscow Pact of October 1944, (Roosevelt did not agree and Churchill lied) where the Balkans were divided into spheres of influence (as if they were fields or sheep) and was the behind-the-scenes beginning of the tragic “Guerrilla Warfare” (“Guerrilla Warfare” according to the UN) or “Civil War” in Greece. The term “guerrilla warfare” is controversial. The tragic sequel is well known.
Also, the war in Gaza, where approximately 35 thousand women and children are innocent victims of "genocide" etc. of the conflicts between Israel and the terrorist Hamas and Hezbollah, plus the victims of starvation, diseases etc., which the UN has denounced, and the enormous material destruction that will require trillions to restore to the glory of some profit-making companies. Finally, why are the UN resolutions on two states not being implemented?
But where is the UN? Essentially absent. Beyond declarations, appeals and humanitarian aid, it is unable to intervene effectively to end hostilities and consolidate peace due to the interests of the Permanent Members of the Security Council. However, if the famous Peace Guide of then-Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali had been implemented, there would be no armed conflicts. They did not renew his term! Besides, it is well known how many billions conflicts bring to arms production and trading companies, and also that the economy of some states depends to a significant extent on the trade in weapons systems. Perhaps the conflicts would have increased if there had been no nuclear threat.
However, even a nuclear war is not ruled out if the interests of certain circles are at risk. People, peoples, except for the privileged war profiteers, have lost their value in the face of power and profits. They are simple, insignificant numbers! Animals, however, have greater value!
The late US President JF Kennedy had emphasized: "People must put an end to war, otherwise war will put an end to humanity"! Of course, war destroys people, while misanthropists, war-loving leaders, etc. live in protected castles or in anti-nuclear shelters enjoying the spectacle and getting pleasure. What a perversion, a horror!
And yet, despite this tragic situation, the 193 UN Member States are indifferent and wilfully blind, among them victim states, which either have useless leaders (private individuals in the ancient Greek sense) or are protectorates and colonies. They are also indifferent to the blatant violation of the UN Charter, which they have signed and ratified, such as, characteristically, the illegal Turkish military occupation of part of the Republic of Cyprus for 51 whole years. Conferences, etc. are repeated without result, damaging the prestige of the UN. However, for Ukraine, etc. some are cut off. The interests of some above the UN!…
And fascist Turkey, with the support of Germany and powerful "allies", plays very effectively the horrible role of bait, lever and provocateur. Moreover - tragic irony - the neo-imperialist and dictator Erdogan appears peace-loving and a willing peace negotiator by replacing the UN Secretary-General, but at the same time supports the terrorist Hamas! He also challenges from the UN General Assembly podium Turkey's illegal rights in the Aegean when it has not signed the UNCLOS, and demands the recognition of the part of the Republic of Cyprus that it still occupies militarily by writing UN resolutions on its old shoes and belittling it. And the "democratic" leaders of powerful etc. states tolerate him and not only that! They support him behind the scenes and for the terrible things he commits in Libya and Syria. But also other former terrorists and neo-Nazis are also honored on the UN General Assembly podium! Obviously, the "War is the Father of All" applies to the powerful, etc., but why not Peace is the Mother of All? And the UN General Secretary succumbs to the calls of the UN Powers! The bones of the late Eupatrides General Secretary Dag Hammarskjold will creak, who exemplary adhered to the UN Charter, but was killed in a plane "accident"... It should be noted that in 1988 the UN General Assembly adopted a Declaration which, among other things, strengthens the role of the General Secretary, transforming the "may" in the decisions he can take, into "must" or "should". But, unfortunately, no one dared to apply it in practice. The conclusions are reasonable!...Especially for the Cyprus issue!...
Furthermore – very importantly – powerful leaders of “democratic” states ignore, degrade and undermine the UN and its Organizations – and financially – which provide important work, especially the Peacekeeping Forces (which, of course, operate effectively where the Strong Members of the Security Council agree) and are cynically indifferent to Climate Change, to the World Health Organization, which had long proposed a solution to the problem of Earth’s Overpopulation, but some misanthropes prefer wars to its tragic solution, UNESCO, etc. Also – the most tragic thing – which we have already pointed out, they embrace arch-terrorists, collaborators of Turkey, who are on a bounty for millions of dollars and make them heads of state. Finally, they manage international relations within the framework of harsh trade relations-transactions! So, what good can we expect?
Finally, religious and para-religious circles and powerful NGOs, within the framework of secular power, formalism, etc., hypocritically operate in favor of peace while in reality they are involved in the vicious circle of war. Do some powerful people want the UN to be dissolved and replaced with NATO or some virtual ghost UN, where with a new Charter it ignores Article 4 of the old Charter, which provides that "All peace-loving states may become members of the United Nations.."? Isn't it a tragic irony that in essence this article has been ignored, and war-loving states like Turkey become members? Also, to continue the veto so that the same powerful warmongering circles, which will not abolish war in general, can rule? Because only with its abolition will the murders, etc. tragedies end!
Only an organized PEACEFUL RESISTANCE of states that have not lost their integrity, that have worthy, peace-loving leaders who do not blind themselves, can offer the solution so that the UN does not dissolve, which will mean World War III, (although it has already begun in another form) and people stop asking ironically "who is the UN?", "where is the UN?", "what is the UN doing?", but the Member States support it in every way so that it can carry out its sacred mission by implementing what the late Eupatrides Senator William Fulbright said in 1972, that small and medium-sized states should not treat the Great Powers with a spirit of subservience, but should unite and impose on them their respect for the UN!!!
However, let us have no illusions. The UN and its Organizations solve some problems that the Powerful desire for disorientation and showcase, as is the case with the spider's web. The rest is left to chance because this benefits the dark, speculative, etc. circles of power, which buy off and blackmail governments in small and medium-sized countries, using puppets, to blindly follow their orders, especially now in the context of the simmering and dead-end tripolar, cold-hot war climate, with the US leader "shaking" peace and war, and an unwilling and sad self-serving EU faltering. Otherwise, they would have ended the wars, and the THREE HUNDREDS that they waste on armaments and the like, would have been allocated to the elimination of hunger, poverty, epidemic diseases, the treatment of the "incurable" for the sake of profiteering from diseases, corruption, terrorism, religious division, which due to secular power has eroded the consciences of many who, instead of trying to make the Earth "Paradise", promise "Paradise" in Space, the political "divide and conquer" and the cruel, inhuman competition, the refugee crisis, illegal immigration, drugs, climate change (trade), racial discrimination, parasitism, Russification, illiteracy, materialism insanity, the cultivation of violence by the media, cinema, irresponsible gun ownership, general fraud, anti-civility, etc., and to open wide the path of meritocracy, peace, overall development, justice, general prosperity and progress for all humanity. And not for "artificial intelligence" to replace human intelligence! To be controlled and serve man faithfully and purely and not to be an instrument of profiteers and the willfully blind!
Some believe - it suits them - that the UN, now in its 80s, has aged and needs renovation-rebirth. However, the UN does not wear out like humans, but is renewed, the elderly retire, and the young take over the reins. Others see it as an old building that needs renovation. However, the UN is not a building. It is a living organism that is renewed, and when it is united it is omnipotent, invincible. Unfortunately, however, the fierce competition, national interests and the lust for power of particularly powerful people, who have been corrupted by power and money (The immortal Sophocles said the equally immortal and wise: "Silver does no harm. And cities are built and the brakes change...") exploit and undermine it. Former Secretary-General U Thant said that “the UN is like a nurse who takes care of the patient until the doctor comes.” Apparently, however, some prefer the UN’s first role so that the doctor is delayed and thus the problem is perpetuated, as is the “treatment” of war conflicts…
Also, religious fanaticism, dogmatism, is largely responsible for wars, etc. conflicts. The great American Professor William Sumner said: "Do you want wars? You are feeding the people with doctrines." Why, therefore, do religious leaders, who have invented "gods" in their own image and likeness, not decide without fanaticism, prejudice, superstition, secular power and formalism, about who the true God is, so that the tragedies caused by them would stop?
Finally, why don't they abolish borders, fortresses and weapons in general, martial arts, and finally implement SI VIS PACEM PARA PACEM instead of the war-loving SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM, and the UN Organizations solve the problems at their root, especially terrorism and the refugee crisis that some use criminally, by assuming all the conditions for peaceful living, development, progress and prosperity of all the peoples of the Earth, and instead of fierce competition, implement a system of pure democracy and common ownership? It should be noted that the drafters of the Charter did not intend to make the UN a superstate, with secular power, but for the Member States to embrace its principles and values, and for the UN to disintegrate.
As for Greece, the cradle of democracy, a founding member of the UN, with a valuable contribution to the Organization, it is a shame that its leadership did not utilize the UN, even when it had a privileged position in the Security Council, to resolve its just national issues, following an extremely compromising policy, which borders on willful blindness and servitude.
And we repeat, if planet Earth is ultimately destroyed, it will not be the ozone hole that is to blame, but the "hole" in the consciousnesses, especially of the powerful and the willfully blind. And if the UN is ultimately dissolved, then "in the beginning there was chaos" will not be true, but: In the end: CHAOS!
