To those who think that Greece does not matter today, let me say that they could not make a bigger mistake. Today, like old Greece, is of the utmost importance for anyone looking to find himself.

Who is afraid of peace?

Ukraine, Russia, Europe and the endless "poker" of war

For a very long time now, we have been hearing that "the West" is supposedly trying to reach an agreement with Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine.
And yet, every time a crack of dialogue seems to open, something happens and the window closes with a bang.

Why;
Who doesn't really want this war to end?
Who benefits while ordinary people lose their homes, their children, their land?

The Europe that talks about peace, but prepares for war

On the one hand, European leaders talk about "peace", "diplomacy", "stability".
On the other hand, they are constantly signing new arms packages, new military agreements, new sanctions, new tensions.

How can you talk about ending the war and at the same time add fuel to the fire?
How many times have we heard that "so many more billions will be given" for weapons, ammunition, and armored vehicles?
How many times have we seen governments harden their rhetoric, at the same time as their society sinks into austerity, energy poverty, and fear?

Ukraine, a country with enormous wealth, fertile land, minerals, and energy, has become a bone of contention for years.
It has always been a major geopolitical challenge: for Russia, for the US, for Europe.
But today, behind the big talk about "democracy" and "values," lies a hard economy: reconstruction contracts, energy routes, arms deals, geostrategic advantages.

"War crimes" and propaganda: who wears whose uniform?

Journalists and correspondents convey shocking testimonies from the front.
Stories about operations that cannot be easily verified, allegations that foreign forces are wearing Russian uniforms, causing atrocities and leaving behind an image of horror so that the world will believe that "the Russians" are to blame.

Is it true? Is it part of the propaganda?
Who can prove it when information passes through filters, secret services, military censorship, and controlled media?

One thing is certain: in war, truth is always the first victim.
And when the images that reach us are selected, edited, and loaded with emotional messages, then public opinion becomes an easy tool.
How many people on the planet today believe they know "the truth" about war, when in reality they are watching a well-crafted narrative of half-truths?

Billions for the war, crumbs for the people

Europe has already given – and has approved to give – unimaginable sums to continue this war.
Billions in weapons, military aid, infrastructure.
And at the same time, across the continent, people are struggling to pay bills, heat their homes, fill their supermarket carts.

How much longer will we allow people to be sacrificed in the name of "geopolitical interests"?
How much longer will we hear that "we must endure the sacrifices for democracy to triumph"?
Which democracy? The one that never asks citizens if they want to get involved in a war that is not theirs?

People are dying in the trenches, in bombed-out houses, on refugee streets.
And yet, some leaders and some multinationals are getting richer:
from arms contracts, from natural gas, from reconstruction that will be paid for – again – by taxpayers.

"We don't want to hit Europe..."

Putin stated that "Russia has no intention of striking Europe, but if Europe chooses war, we are ready."
 What does this phrase mean?
Is it a threat? Is it a warning? Is it a message that there is still room for agreement?

Many in Europe seem to not even want to hear the word "negotiation."
Anyone who talks about peace, about compromise, about a solution at the table is immediately labeled a "pro-Russian", a "traitor", a "voice of the Kremlin".
Since when did it become a crime to ask for the blood to stop?
Since when is peace considered suspect and war "morally superior"?

The questions they don't want to hear

  • If hostilities were to stop tomorrow, how many billions would those who profit from the war lose?
  • Who decides the fate of millions of people locked in conference rooms, far from the bombs?
  • Why isn't a real pan-European referendum being organized on whether the people want continued military support or a brave turn towards diplomacy?
  • Who will be held accountable for the children who were lost, for the cities that were wiped off the map, for the lives that will never be rebuilt?

And even harder:
Is the goal not only Russia, but also the complete subjugation of Europe to a logic of permanent tension, fear, and dependence?
Is “the war to the last Ukrainian” just the first episode in a much larger plan?

War is not a TV show.
While we're changing channels, someone is burying their child.
The moment we click "like" on a "heroic" statement by a leader, someone loses their home, their land, their homeland.

War is neither a strategy game, nor a television show, nor a publicity opportunity for career politicians.
It's blood, mud, screams, broken souls.

And as long as we remain silent, as long as we accept without chewing every "line" that is served to us, we make it easier for those who want this nightmare to continue.

Call to wake up

We don't need to be pro-Russian, pro-Ukrainian, anti-American, or anti-European.
 We need to be pro-life.
For children who want to grow up without sirens.
In favor of women who don't want to lose their men at the front.
In favor of the peoples who can no longer bear to pay the price of geopolitical games.

History will someday write who was right and who was wrong in the diplomatic papers.
But another, heavier question will remain in people's hearts:

When you could have cried out for peace, why did you remain silent?

And then no leader, no NATO, no Union and no billion will be able to hide behind the rubble.
