Pioneering visual artist Georgia Lale, who lives permanently in America, proud of her Greek origin, created and presented at the exhibition of the Consulate General of New York a Greek flag in a pink shade, made from the sheets of women who have suffered domestic violence.
A special noise was made for her pink greek flag, which was exhibited at the Consulate General of New York, and which was withdrawn with the intervention of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. G. Gerapetritis, because "the symbols of the state must be seen intact in the Services of the hard core of the state".

This exact violence was the subject of the exhibition with the typical title "Guilt of the Neighborhood". She herself reacted to this action of the Minister in a commendable and milder manner than the corresponding politicians and journalists, saying: "I am sorry that my work was misinterpreted. The victims gynecology and domestic violence they are heroes in the fight for the right to life and freedom in Greece and worldwide."
The freedom of Art is also protected by the Constitution. The pink flag was intended to make society aware of these tragic, inhumane phenomena that are happening in our time. The flag did not offend anyone or anything, the phenomena offend our country.
In literature, Anna Karamanou deals with the subject of the devaluation of the female gender in her book The Peaceful Rebellion of the Female SAPIENS 1821-2021. These women, with universal values as their flag, claim their fundamental human rights and gender justice.
It is a fact, and it is sad, that Art and Culture more broadly, in which Greece was a pioneer during antiquity, in recent times its course has changed.
We are proud of the past and indifferent to the present, while we all admit that our country is the pre-eminent culture-producing country, which, if properly exploited, could make us a rich country today. This is a national flaw, which we refuse to correct. We hesitate, always drowning in our ideologies and phobias.
I cannot forget the reaction of some colleagues at the University of Athens, many years ago, to the operation of Departments of Music and Theater Studies with the justification that they deviate from the strictly scientific character of other university departments. Fortunately, they were not listened to, these departments worked and are following an excellent course, which honors the University.
The submission of the pink flag caused reactions and unfavorable comments. Characteristic is the humorous way in which our great KYR reacted by writing the following mouth-watering comment: "When they take down a work of Art from an exhibition, all Fine Arts Schools should raise a Greek flag at half-mast on the roof!"
