Dimitris Filias was born in 1959 in Athens. In June 1981 he was declared a graduate of the Department of French Language and Philology of the Philosophy School of the University of Athens. Postgraduate studies followed in France, at the University of Sorbonne with a scholarship from the French government (1981-1986). In June 1986 he was awarded a Doctor of the Sorbonne University. From 1989 until today, he taught at the University of Ioannina (1989-1993) and then at the Panteion University of Athens (1993-2000). Since 2001, he has been teaching at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting of the Ionian University. He has a large and multifaceted teaching, research and translation work, he is particularly concerned with theater and research methodology directing many bachelor's, diploma theses as well as doctoral theses and is a member of many Societies, Societies and Associations. In 2018 he was awarded the title of "Knight of the Order of the Academic Phoenix" in implementation of the Ministerial decision of July 17, 2018 of the French Ministry of Education. Since 2019, he has been an appointed member of the Committee for judging and awarding the State Prizes for Literary Translation of the Ministry of Culture.
