Ioannis Ath. Baltzois, Lieutenant General (ret.) and president of the Hellenic Institute of Strategic Studies (ELISME), was born in Arta and graduated in 1976, from the Evelpidon Military School, named second lieutenant of Cavalry - Armored (TH). He served in all the administrative and staff positions prescribed by his rank, in Thrace, in the Anat islands. Aegean within the country, as well as in foreign locations.
In addition, he was appointed and served in special positions such as:
• Observer of the EU during the Bosnian war (1993-94) and ECMM (European Community Monitor Mission) Operations Center at RC ZENICA in central Bosnia and RC KNIN, in Krajina.
• Supporter of the late president of the republic Kostis Stefanopoulos from 1995-2000.
• Defense Follower at TEL AVIB, from 2000 until 2003, during the 2nd Palestinian Intifada, Al Aqsa.
He has graduated from all the prescribed Army schools.
They are also:
Graduate of the Higher School of War (today ADISPO),
Graduate of the School of National Defense (SETHA).
Diploma holder of the Tactical Intelligence School, from Ft Huachuca, Arizona, of the US Army.
Holder of a Master's Degree (M.Sc), in Geopolitical Analysis, Geostrategic Synthesis and Defense & International Security studies of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Speaks the English language.
He has received all the prescribed medals and awards of the E.D. as well as moral awards, a total of 14 medals. He has been honored with the medals of six European states (Portugal, Poland, Cyprus, Estonia, as well as the EU, for his participation as an observer in the Bosnian war), as well as by the A.M. the King of Sweden. He has also been awarded in 2003, the title (after graduation) of the Little Crusader of the Order of the Orthodox Crusaders of the Holy Sepulcher by His Holiness the Patriarch of Jerusalem.
He is a columnist in print and electronic press, with hundreds of published articles. He is a geopolitical analyst on television and radio. Lecturer at the Ministry of Defense, Military Schools, Institutes, Universities, Municipalities and with participation in dozens of conferences and seminars on geopolitics and not only analysis.
