OMMA
The Study and Care Group for the Alopekida and other indigenous Greek breeds was established to serve the survival and protection of the genetic resources of all native dog ecotypes of Greece. OMMA AMKE is an Urban Non-Profit Society with an educational, cultural, animal-friendly and dog-friendly purpose. Number of the Court of First Instance of Athens 310/489731AM. Approval date 26/10/2021. History The company that developed into O.M.A. started in 2013 as a Group in with founding members Dr. Spyros Chleiounaki (head of the university team, consisting of veterinarians from the AUTH and the DFT, who conducted the study and certification of the Alopecidae population between 2005 and 2013) and Maria Ginala who wrote the description of the Alopecidae type. Since the survival problems faced by all indigenous dog breeds in Greece are common, while there was no special body for their study and protection, in 2021 we founded the Urban Society with the aim of ensuring their preservation.
