I believe that any reasonable person with a basic education will be amazed and saddened by the ongoing carnage in Ukraine, but also by the global indifference to this horrible tragedy, which could and should have been prevented much earlier.
About THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLE have lost their lives! Didn't they have the right to live, have a family, be happy? Which "god" decides? Rather, the earthly "gods", the "Lords of the Rings", the warmongers, who have acquired power and materialistic insanity, do not count human lives before the profits from equipment.
The eminent Journalist Kostas Mardas revealed that according to authoritative data, some arms industries have earned 250 million dollars from the war tragedy in Ukraine. Need feedback? What decadence! Back to the Middle Ages! And yet, the most tragic, the apathy of politicians, religious, etc. leaders in red! Except for some declarations or declarations, "silent fish"!
Also, the UN, the pre-eminent world organization for matters of war and peace, is absent apart from some statements by its Secretary General. Shouldn't he have been present from the first moment of the war crisis to contribute decisively to its termination? Perhaps, however, some Permanent Members of the Security Council did not want to, for unknown reasons. What a tragedy!
The bones of the late Dag Hammersjold will also crackle! And the world public opinion, especially the media watch the carnage as if watching a play or a movie, then "sleep well and sweet dreams"! And some fanatics, mentally participating in what is happening, take a stand and try to transmit their fanaticism to others.
Even NGOs, who could intervene catalytically, are indifferent, looking forward to 2 grants to continue their parasitic work! Apparently, fear causes apathy, which ultimately leads to the "funeral" in others! “Homo Homini, Lupus Est”! According to a Greek poet, the opposite:Lupus Lupi, Homo Est”! And war is nothing but organized fear!
But, beyond the fact that we, as Greeks, loyal to our ideals, must sympathize and try to contribute to the end of the tragedy, which affects us and will affect us negatively with its consequences even when it ends due to mistakes of the rulers, we should reflect and evaluate constructively our own attitude towards our internal problems, which cause such problems outside our borders as well. The occasion and motivation for a cool assessment of our own problems and the fear and disgust that accompany them was the Round Table, the Dialogue (in the more Greek "debate"), which provoked unfavorable comments especially in Hellenism of the Diaspora, which anxiety about the fate of the Motherland.
Unfortunately, the sad conclusion is that because of "fear" (four hundred years of slavery, civil wars, foreign destructive interventions, Rusfetocracy, social exclusion, meritocracy, etc.) and hatred (due to fear and insecurity), there is still a climate of division and of fanaticism in the party "strugs", in the party "castles", which perpetuate fear and apathy with the well-known dramatic consequences. And the question is: Why were key national issues silenced or downplayed:
1) North-Continental. When the Greek National Minority is constantly under persecution, with murders, illegal arrests, imprisonments and persecutions, plus the illegal expropriation of Greek properties, etc., what have the Greek governments done and what are they doing? Are they putting up with the hypocritical anti-Greek rants of our powerful "friends" and "allies"? When in the 50s the late Papagos proposed that the North-Continent should be included in the Agenda of the UN General Assembly, the then American administration prevented him with the flimsy argument that Albania would ally with the USSR! And that's how we lost Northern Continent! It is known (tragic irony) that if Albania has survived in the last decades, it owes it to Greece, but: ingratitude!
2) Cypriot, who for 49 years still exist in the Republic of Cyprus, a member of the UN and the EU, Turkish occupation troops in violation of dozens of UN resolutions, and who threaten to continue their neo-imperialist policy. And UN, EU, NATO again "silent fish"! They forgot the genocidal attacks, the rapes, the Napalm bombs, the thousands of refugees, etc. barbaric acts of the Turks? But, for Ukraine they got the pain, for Cyprus not! "With such friends what can you do with enemies"?
3) Skopiano, where the shameful and treacherous "Prespa agreement" was deliberately imposed to divide (Divide Et Impero) and cause serious problems in the wider region where corrupt warmongering circles invest their immoral and illegal interests. It is a tragic irony that when in 1944 the anti-Hellenic Stalin and Tito tried to create an independent "Macedonian state", the late and genuine democrat of the US Foreign Ministry Edward Reilly Stettinius reacted strongly and the "crime" was prevented! And after about 75 years, non-Greek leaders of the "friend" and "ally" country adopted the Stalin and Tito policy! Need feedback? QUESTION, DISAPPOINTMENT, SADNESS! Fortunately, distinguished foreign and Greek Scientists (among them Professor Francis Boyle, University of Illinois) argue with strong arguments that the ridiculous "Prespa agreement" can be annulled!
4) Turkish neo-imperialism: Names, threats, almost daily violations of our national air and sea space, illegal (under UNCL0S) agreement with Libya, etc. Neither the tragedy of the earthquakes, nor the tragedy of their economy, etc. they have devised the fascist "deep state" of the neo-Ottoman pseudo-empire! And neither is it. It is a shame that there are illusions that the Turkish leadership will change its policy even though a large part of its people disagree and suffer. Imperialism, Lebensraum, blackmail, hypocrisy, violence, provocations, racism, etc. dangerous syndromes are in their DNA. How many genocides, destruction of cultures, illegal conquests, violations of International Law, the UN Charter, the EU, even NATO, as well as the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. And the supposedly "democratic" Powers, not only tolerate them, but behind the scenes assist them! There is an axiom in international relations that they hold that a system of competition cannot survive without "enemies", rivals, so it provokes them, invents them, creates them by any means! We see it every day in the dozens of wars, etc. conflicts worldwide. And Turkey, having established blackmail, provocations, etc. acts as a "Trojan Horse" of peace. It acts as leverage, as bait, serving its profit-seeking bosses as well as its own neo-imperialist designs. And its abysmal audacity is also proven by the fact-farce, of talking about a "blue homeland" when its entire historical image and its flag are crimson, symbolizing the immense blood of the "infidels" it massacred. And, the apathy of the other "democratic" Powers in the red! MERCY!
5) It is imperative to create a National Security Council with the participation of eminent Diplomats (active and retired), Senior Military (active and retired) who know international relations, University Professors of International Studies, Journalists specialized in international relations. And apart from the other priorities, it is of crucial importance to adopt national cooperation with Diaspora Hellenism which has offered and offers valuable help to Greece in every way. However, special importance must be given to the Greek Language, which is unfortunately disappearing from new generations, but - what an irony - it is used by foreigners! It's crazy here! In inscriptions, etc. Greek words are displayed in English! This does not happen in any other European country! As for the media etc. "xenodouls" prefer "safe" instead of "safely" or "safely" and so on! MERCY!
6) Absolute priority in the upgrading of the Armed Forces and our defense industry in all sectors so that we are not afraid of any enemy plot!
7) Effective treatment of the key demographic problem. It is very sad that until now no government has really taken an interest in the very serious problem that opens the "Aeskos of Aeolus"!
8) Systematic decentralization and the creation of agro-towns as proposed by the eminent Professor Kyriakos Varvaresos, since the 50s, but the "authorities" "ruled the countryside". The result is tragic! Desertification of the countryside, shrinkage of the Primary Sector, urbanism with all its tragic health consequences, etc.
9) Implementation of the UN Program "TOKTEN-Transfer of Technology Through National Expatriates. (I pointed this out in my OT article in the 80s (but can someone, even from a village, give advice to the "wise" "competent" leaders?).
10) Promotion of the Primary and secondary sectors so that we can be sufficient in the necessary products and export them and not have to import even milk, meat, etc. And to have investments. And we wouldn't have Memorials etc. sufferings of a colonial nature.
11) Substantial improvement of Public Education, our Public Schools, especially the Universities which are suffering in many areas.
12) Substantial improvement of Public Health, of our Public Hospitals which are also suffering in many areas.
13) Cracking down on parasitic bureaucracy, rusfetology, corruption, crime (the unacceptable clemency laws, which even hardened criminals and terrorists facilitate, has increased the feeling of insecurity of the people) which in recent years has increased dangerously. And defeat of the meritocracy. Without meritocracy there is no real democracy! And one more important thing. From research I did while serving at the UN, the only country that is inundated with daily newspapers et al. Greece is printed! And how they survive is another strange story!
14) Increase of salaries and pensions so that citizens can live decently and not only the privileged and "paraxically happy" and abolition of ENFIA etc. charges.
15) A single strategy to claim German Reparations, which other countries have succeeded in, and Greece, which was literally destroyed by the Nazis, are the rulers cowardly and compromising? And the return of the Parthenon Sculptures!
16) Strengthening and utilization of the Security Forces and the Fire Brigade so that the phenomena of murders, kidnappings, rapes, robberies, thefts, arson, etc., which are unacceptable for a European country, do not occur. criminal actions that cause fear and insecurity in citizens.
17) Immediate and effective measures to deal with climate change and environmental pollution so that we don't have fines from the EU and become internationally resiliable.
18) Effective treatment of the refugee within the framework of the UN, EU, NATO, etc., aiming to solve the problem at its root, so that tragedies are not caused.
19) Focusing the attention of the rulers on the promotion of Holistic Education so that privatism is not perpetuated and citizens are real citizens in the ancient Greek sense! And worthy, honest citizens to participate actively in the commons. It is instructive that the inimitable Socrates, when asked why he does not engage in politics, answered so that he would not be accused of being a fraud, a thief, etc. Unfortunately, since then it is still an institution to "follow the superiors" of the Tyrant Periander!
20) As the great Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran wrote, "Just as the leaf of a tree does not wither by itself but with the tacit knowledge of the whole tree, so an offender cannot do evil without the secret will of all", so, as people and with a glorious history, that without our unrepeatable heroic National Resistance, the neo-barbaric NAZIs would have taken over all of Europe and the USA (but our "friends" and "allies" have forgotten this and are ungrateful) we must achieve unity , like-mindedness, promoting our rare virtues, and with proper national strategy and meritocracy to face the "storms" prepared for us by enemies and "friends", so that we and our descendants can progress and be happy in a genuinely peaceful, civilized and democratic world !
