The candidates for the leadership of the party so far were the president Fofi Gennimata, the MP and former minister Andreas Loverdos and the MEP Nikos Androulakis. Thessaloniki MP Haris Kastanidis announced his candidacy for the leadership of the Movement for Change on Wednesday morning.
The statement of Harry Kastanidis:
"There are times when their borders are shifting closer to the people and their hopes. And their lives become better and fairer.
In our country, such leaps of progress have always been associated with the great democratic faction, which in the years of the coup took the name, the colors and the voice of PASOK.
The gloom of a weak present does not fit into this great line-up of the ideas of democratic socialism, which changed the fate of the country and its citizens. It does not suit her to live between the memory of a glorious past and the present melancholy of low expectations.
It is necessary for her to rediscover her soul, her identity and her pace, to become great again, because only in this way will Greece and the Greeks find their own pace towards the future.
My decision to claim the leadership of the Movement for Change serves this purpose. It is also my personal debt to the party that hosted the most noble dreams of different generations ".
