The "post-human" is already here, the Greek scientist declared, and man now appears to be on the threshold of a radical mutation.
The wise Heraclitus had predicted that a person's character shapes their future, their destiny. The word "daemon" in antiquity did not always have a negative meaning, it was considered a spiritual/divine force that determined a person's life.
Ο Dimitris Nanopoulos, one of the leading theoretical physicists, in an interview fully justified the words of the wise Heraclitus, believing that man himself, with his actions and with his rapid progress in the sciences and technology, will very soon see his end and the birth of a new type of existence, the "post-human".
D. Nanopoulos dares to establish that the human brain can function, at least in part, as a kind of quantum computer. The “meta-human” is a hybrid of biotechnology, which seems to be already moving towards the conquest of longevity. It is a gradual leap: first more years of life, then even more and, finally, the tendency towards immortality, which is becoming more and more visible. And what is impressive is not only the extension of life, but its quality with physical well-being, mental clarity and a zest for life.
Immortality, moreover, will not be a simple survival, but a form of immortality full of prosperity. And there is no “prohibitive principle” that would exclude immortality. The “post-human” is already here, declared the Greek scientist, and man seems to be on the threshold of a radical mutation. The question is whether he will be able to free himself from his fixed ideas in order to realize it, and direct it with moral awareness.
The role of the state in the issue of artificial intelligence and in the face of developments that are predicted for civil society and are fundamentally transforming their daily lives. How will communities and organizations adapt to the new reality?
A broad political consensus and understanding is needed for cooperation between our country, as a member of the European Union, with other countries, and for relevant funding, because developments are not far away, and Greece has strong scientific personnel.
If we assume, therefore, that this mutation occurs, it is obvious that we are facing a complete reversal, even of our Christian faith in the only immortal God!
What do we ordinary citizens do, await our fate or, to be more precise, the fate – according to Heraclitus – of expert scientists? And if their assessments are wrong, who will be able to check it?
Personally, I do not desire immortality, because I cannot understand it. I would only like to ask the experts, who achieve the humanly impossible, if there will be a way for us, who will not have time to become… immortal, to learn whether their goals, if achieved, will bring HAPPINESS to the post-human!
