Areti Grigoriadi declares her presence in letters with the novel "The Rest of Myself" by Businessrise Publishing House.
Reading the book, I did not expect that I would be faced with reality. And when I say reality, I mean it literally, as I mean the truths that exist in people's lives. With emotions and events that make it up, sometimes good or bad, sometimes easy or difficult, sometimes possible or impossible, and to be given or taken revenge on whoever and whenever they want. The story of the book is easily characterized as a story of characters, as the author, through the events of the plot and the twists and turns, focuses on their development and description, which of course also play the dominant and decisive role in their psychological traits. Thus, through the heroes, its theme unfolds, with an essential role in the development of the story, constituting the main interest of the reader. The characters in character books usually have many emotional references and complex characteristics, which makes them real and interesting for the reading public. Areti Grigoriadi, with the design of the story, has managed to enrich the book with interesting elements which all together add to its charm and value.
One of the most charming elements in Areti Grigoriadis' work is the existential elements of her characters. They are not just faces that move the story, but living personalities with thoughts, emotions and contradictions. Each hero has his own voice, his own anxieties and his own dreams, elements that make him touch the reader and make him identify with him.
The author does not stop at just the external description, she opens doors to their inner world, lets us hear their fears, feel their tenderness or weakness. Thus, the heroes seem real, like people we could meet in our everyday lives, and this makes them even more attractive and unforgettable.
As for Areti Grigoriadis' writing style, we would say that it combines realism with a special lyricism. Her language is clear, flowing and direct, but at the same time she has images and metaphors that give the text a poetic quality. The narrative flows naturally, in such a way that it keeps the reader close to her, without ever losing the rhythm.
In this way, the author doesn't just give us a beautiful story; she gives us an experience. An experience where the psychological strength of the characters meets her careful and lively style, making the book stand out and stay in our memory.
I deliberately avoid going into detail about the subject and several other aspects of her heroes and heroines, and stick to a more general reference and the overall emotional impact that the author wants to evoke in the reader.
I will mention on the back cover that piques interest. "Ultimately, is life or the way we see it futile? An artist who was forced to leave everything he loves for a "cursed" inheritance, a father who didn't know how to get the "I love you" out of his teeth, two grandparents who temporarily filled the unbearable void, a special stepmother, a relationship that ended ingloriously and an old friendship. All part of the long-awaited enigma of existence: is life worth living?
Was his own life worth it? This question kept spinning in his mind. Meanwhile, the years rolled by and the questions that kept multiplying remained unanswered. In the end, however, the choice is inevitable. Which part will ultimately follow, that of the miserable void of self-pity or that which remained rusty inside him, the rest of his self?
In summary: Romance, love, tenderness, disappointment, are presented as the main psychological traits of the central characters through conflicting trials.
I conclude my opinion with the words of Edgar Allan Poe, who considered the most important part of the story to be that the reader should feel the unique emotional effect. And Areti Grigoriadi, despite her young age, has achieved this result as an experienced writer in an absolute way in her first book entitled: "The Rest of Myself".
