A few words about the project
Grazia and Adam …
A retired teacher, Grazia, has isolated herself in her home and now lives through soap operas, which have become her daily reality. Her favorite "reality" is the series Bold and the Beautiful, which she watches constantly, experiencing through the scenes the moments and emotions that she herself never experienced.
- Adam, her son, a soap opera scriptwriter and aspiring playwright, returns to his hometown after an absence of many years to spend some time with his mother, following a failed attempt to take the next professional step in his life.
- Their coexistence will bring to light family secrets, hidden until now in the old trunk... culminating in Grazia's big secret, which will change their relationship forever.
The “Family Secrets” is a tender work, which goes from laughter to tears – just as it happens in life.
Besides, "We all get it...we grow up feeling like our parents are immortal and we almost never ask them about their lives before us. About their families, their friends, their interests as children... as if they were born adults. As if they were born ''mom'' and ''dad''. As if they had no previous life. We feel like they will exist for us forever... Like Mars. Like Venus. Like the earth... like the sun, to illuminate our lives..."
(excerpt from the text)

Author note
"I like to write simple stories, about people whose life suddenly pulls the rug out from under their feet, takes them out of their norms and breaks the microcosm that they themselves have built day after day, and in the end it is not what they dreamed of, but a prison, which they have voluntarily created and trapped in it and from which they refuse to leave."
Grazia and Adam, the two protagonists of our story, try to resist with all their strength the tsunami of events that overwhelm their lives. They bolt doors, seal windows, but it's still not enough. The ship is taking on water and slowly, slowly sinking, dragging them to the bottom.
In such circumstances, we have two paths. Either we observe passively, waiting for when we will sink, or we resist and fight. What matters is not which of the two we choose, but the way we will face everything. The strength we will show. And of course, it is these moments that we discover our greatest weapon against difficulties, true and unconditional love.

They wrote about it. Family Secrets:
Alexandros Liakopoulos signs a direction with subtle nuances and humor, which respects the text and the psyche of the heroes. At the same time, he undertakes the lighting design, while the sets and costumes by Nora Ponti, as well as the musical score by Angelos Andreopoulos, complete a result that manages to be both tender and piercing.
ATHINORAMA TEAM
“Family Secrets”: A human, tender, true performance; which reminds us that behind everyday silences lie the strongest confessions. Mae Sevastopoulou gives a shockingly honest performance. With simplicity, without theatricality, she fills the stage with her gaze and silence. Her every movement — the folding of a garment, a tightening of the lips, a smile that does not have time to bloom — reveals an entire life. Giorgos Kontopodis accompanies her with consistency and sensitivity, giving depth to their scenes, while the chemistry of the two actors keeps the pulse of the play alive.
Sotiris Souloukos
The fast pace of the story, combined with the dialogues and lines, gave us the feeling that we really had a family in front of us, a son with his mother and we were looking through the keyhole of their house. Giorgis Kontopodis is the narrator but also one of the protagonists, who sheds light on past events in his life and who tells them to us. Moments of sobs harmonize with the interpretation of the heroes, making the audience acrobat between moments of sadness and laughter, always in a beautiful and elegant way without losing dignity.
Polyxeni Zarkadoula
His work Enrico Luttmann It is reminiscent of references similar to ancient tragedy, and not unfairly, since it has the structural elements: beginning, middle, end, it intensifies pity and fear to bring about a different kind of Catharsis: we weep as spectators, we feel the high emotional charge as we join the Poetics of Memory where the art of memory, reflection and the repetitive appearance of the past in the present is encapsulated and almost merged with the individual memory of the viewer with a universal reference.
Eleni Anagnostopoulou
The direction of Alexandros Liakopoulos is an artistic expression of particular intelligence. There is only one mother in the ninety. With this in mind, he directs in a way that makes the text shine each time. He focuses on the verses and the surprises, he gathers attention around something that the moment brings each time. And in the end he proceeds with a climax of many emotional units.
Kostas Koulis
The chemistry between the two leads is delightfully complex – full of memory, silences, innuendo and, ultimately, a touching admission: that no matter how difficult a relationship is, it can be transformed when faced with honesty.
Vivian Mitsakou
May Sevastopoulou is stunning as Mrs. Grazia and Giorgos Kontopodis is equally amazing. It is no coincidence that the show is constantly sold out, and fortunately it was extended so that more people can see it.
Sandra Alexandrou
The play, beyond the choices and acceptances that the heroes make in their lives, is above all a hymn to man, to the small, common man, who through frustrations, mistakes, rejections, bad choices, abandoned to his fate, experiences alone the results of his choices, with humor, love and stoicism, remaining until the end of his journey in the tunnel of Man.
Maria Lakaki
The chemistry of George Kontopodis with the on-stage mother of May Sevastopoulos, evident in every second of the performance, he travels us to a known-unknown world which in many ways may be reminiscent of our own. It is our honor to experience this representation by these two great actors.
Angelica Batsou
The Family Secrets It's a story that will make you laugh a lot, be moved, and leave the theater with that very powerful quality that transforms a mechanical person into a conscious one. The remembrance! Of love? Of acceptance? Of self-esteem? All of that together? You will be the judge...
