A voice that unites Hellenism
There are people who don't just limit themselves to creating. They create spaces for communication, open paths, give people a platform and, most importantly, keep the connection with Greece and Hellenism alive wherever it is.
Such a special presence is Mrs. Ioanna Lazarou, publisher and producer, a person with whom I have the special pleasure of having come close and communicating substantially. Our acquaintance has special meaning for me. Through our communication we have developed a beautiful human relationship, with mutual appreciation and shared love for Greece, the language, culture and Hellenism.
Through her activity, Mrs. Lazarou has contributed to creating a platform for expression and communication for Hellenism in America and beyond. Because Hellenism in the diaspora is not just a community living far from its homeland. It is a living part of the Greek world, with its own history, its own anxieties, its successes, its memories and its dreams.
In this effort, the presence of Greek News and Radio FL, a medium that gives space to the Greek voice and creates bridges of communication between the Greeks of Florida, Greece and Hellenism everywhere.
For me personally, the opportunity to write for a newspaper that is read by the Greek diaspora, as well as by people interested in Greek culture and Greece, is a special honor. I am even more delighted that through this family I was given the opportunity to have my voice heard, to share thoughts, opinions and stories with an audience that, although they may be thousands of kilometers away, feels Greece close to them.
And perhaps this is ultimately the most important task of a media outlet: to unite.
To unite people who are in different countries, different cities and different realities. To unite generations. To keep the language and memory alive. To give the younger generation the opportunity to better know the homeland of their parents and grandparents. To remind all of us that Hellenism does not stop at the geographical borders of Greece.
It is with great pleasure, therefore, that I participate in this anniversary broadcast and I feel the need to express a great thanks to Mrs. Ioanna Lazarou for the trust, the opportunity and the human relationship we have developed.
A thank you to all the people at the station and the newspaper who work every day to ensure that the Greek voice is heard loud and clear.
Because ultimately, the power of Hellenism lies precisely there: in our voices when they meet, in our stories when they are shared, and in the bridges we build towards each other.
And as long as there are people who give space, a stage, and a microphone to these voices, Hellenism will continue to be heard — everywhere.
Happy birthday to the show, to the station and to all those who serve the Greek voice with love. And I hope we continue to meet, communicate and create bridges that unite Hellenism, wherever it may be.
