To those who think that Greece does not matter today, let me say that they could not make a bigger mistake. Today, like old Greece, is of the utmost importance for anyone looking to find himself.

Good evening,

I am Maria Dragonitis, a philologist and poet from Zakynthos. I live with my family in Nafpaktos and in addition to poetry, I write articles, short, true stories, short stories, reviews and presentations of literary works and I am involved in various cultural events, poetry festivals and more.

I send you my warmest wishes for these wonderful 5 years of your operation. I especially thank Mrs. Ioanna Lazarou, the soul and driving force of the radio and the newspaper, for the invitation and the hospitality. Many congratulations for the work she does with admirable personal dedication, which is truly moving, a fact that makes us feel like family.

Our acquaintance began in 2022, when the poet and writer Dimitris Varvarigos published a review of my first poetry collection "Ships of the Sun" in the newspaper and encouraged me to send two of my poems. I thank him warmly for the path he opened for me!

All these years you have offered companionship to every Greek abroad and created a bridge of communication with Greece. You have offered information and contact with Greek tradition, information with quality and validity, as well as music and culture that unite.

All that you and your collaborators have offered for the communication of the Greek diaspora with Greece and the world, the preservation of the Greek language, the promotion and creation of culture, and so much more, I will tell in my own way with verbal images, through a poem that I wrote with the title of the morning radio show of your station, without of course being limited to this particular show.

GOOD MORNING MIAMI

At the edge of the ocean,

over distant roads

with skyscrapers around,
a voice on the airwaves,

in waves traveling through the air,

becomes a bridge from the New World
on the shores of Homer,

speaking the same language everywhere,

for three thousand years

And the news becomes a homeland,
 music becomes home.

 five years now.

Wednesday and Friday,

with love and nostalgia,

prints columns,

unites the voices of the Diaspora

with the Greek communities

and they create, love, remember,

united they move forward,

with the same immortal voice,

five years now.

On the other side of the sea,

weekdays and Sundays,

morning after morning, years ago,

female figure

turns on the radio.

Good morning Miami!

Good morning Miami!

repeats.

The vast ocean disappears,

the towering mountain ranges are lowering,

big cities are getting smaller,

small marks are made on the map.

Radio waves

they arrive at her yard.

He hears the noises.

of distant roads,

 breaths of her own people,

familiar voices!

And suddenly the world,

the vast world,

becomes her neighborhood.

She is not alone,

as long as he presses

the radio button,

of the radio Greek News &Radio Fl.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREEK NEWS AND RADIO FL

I thank you warmly and I hope that you will continue to write and broadcast with the strength, vision and stubbornness of Ms. Ioanna Lazarou in the face of adversity, offering great work, utilizing the power of the media and information.
