The Excellent Sculptor and Commissioner left us on 17/9/2021. Member of EEL- George Kalakallas . The funeral procession will take place in the church of Ag. Theodoron GERAKA on MONDAY 20/9/2021 at 11.30 am and is then buried in the cemetery of Gerakas.
Ο George Kalakallas was born in Tyrnavos in 1938. He studied with a scholarship at the Athens School of Fine Arts. He was a professor at the National Technical University of Athens at the School of Architecture from 1965 to 2005. He has been honored with many awards and has received more than 15 first prizes in national and international competitions.
He has held more than 150 group exhibitions in Greece and about 90 exhibitions abroad, while solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad amount to 38. A significant number of his works are also in Museums, Art Galleries, Foundations and private collections while his works are located in public space in Greece and abroad.
He has given many interviews to newspapers and magazines, both in Greece and abroad. He has given many speeches and lectures.
He has also given many interviews on radio and television in Greece and abroad. He has published the book with his works, entitled "Sculpture", in the publications Psychalos in 1998. From the Polytechnic, his book has been published, entitled "Plastic Creations I and II" in 1995. A tribute has been made to his work, in Greek Television (ET1), entitled "The Creation of a Statue, A Tribute to the sculptor George Kalakallas", in 1998, lasting 1 hour and directed by Stamatis Chondrogiannis.
He had the title of Emeritus Professor of the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens, he lived and worked in Gerakas, Attica. He created and donated to the Hellenic Accounting Company - in corresponding presentations - the busts of νη Giannis Ritsos – Menelaos Lountemis – Nikiforos Vrettakos – Konstantinos Kavafis – Michalis Stafylas. As an honorary member of EEL, he has been a diligent speaker and researcher, always kind-hearted and willing to support the work of young people.

He sculpted the spirit of the ancients, with the modern reality. It gave light-content and breath to the white Greek Marble. Award-winning sculptor Ιτα in Italy with a diploma of honor for the art of 1975, in France he was awarded the Silver Medal of Honor 2000, and with the highest honor by the European Parliament with the ΄΄Silver ECU΄΄ prize.
